Braswell Locks In Five Visits Premium Story

It seems like Chris Braswell’s been around forever. Last year he was a member of Georgetown’s recruiting class. This time around, he’s got five new schools and has managed to position himself well while flying just below the radar. Someone is about to land a productive pivot man.

Chris Braswell, one of the top post-graduate frontcourt players in the country, has laid out an aggressive visit schedule. The 6-foot-8 power forward out of Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy, according to his travel team coach, is all set with his five official visits.

“I’ve told him its going to be hard to make a decision,” Keith Stevens of Team Takeover told Scout.com. “The list is based on who is best equipped to help him academically. (Plus) he can go somewhere and play, that’s big.”

Going back a year, Braswell was locked and loaded for the Georgetown Hoyas. He did not qualify and tacked on this extra year. After the Hoyas and Braswell parted ways, the frontcourt baseline scorer wasn’t without options.

According to Stevens, Braswell has his handful of visits slotted. Xavier (Sept. 12) gets the parade started. Maryland (9/20), Indiana (9/27), Virginia Tech (Oct. 4) and Charlotte (10/11) comprise the list.

Braswell intends on having the process completed by the first day of the early signing period.

“I think its moreso the playing time situation is the same at each school. It’s going to be who makes him feel the most comfortable and where he fits in as a person, not just the basketball side.”

Looks like 10/11 is Forty Niner Madness (good sign, very good sign).

so is basketball madness on the 11th or 23rd of october. im confused

Jim’s article says Basketball Madness is Thurs Oct 23rd? As long as we have the last visit, that’s the most important thing.

Charlotte has the playing time he’s looking. I don’t see as much available at those other schools.

Missed that blog entry, but yes, the last visit is very big.

Having the last visit is pretty good, but we have had trouble in the past of actually getting the guys here. There have been a couple of situations where the guy has scheduled us as one of the later visits, but commits at one of the earlier ones. I’ve always said that if we could just get the guys to make it here to visit, these guys would be wonderfully impressed by our campus, facilities, and community, and then they would just fall in love with the 49er family.

We just have to be able to get the guys here!

The word earlier was that he made an unofficial visit last month, so he knows how nice the campus and facilities are, which makes it an ever better sign that he wants to come back here on Madness night. You’re right though, hopefully he doesn’t make his decision before that night. If he does make it back a good reception for him by the fans at Madness should go a long way.

He will be here on the 23rd for Midnight madness, not the 11th like the article posted. From what I hear, he liked it here a bunch. I like what im hearing so far!

Sweet vindication, even if I was totally jacked up on the date.

I think it’d be tight if some people wore homemade jersey shirts. Maybe just plain white t-shirts with 49 and his name on the back. Along with chanting his name, it would be a good way to let him know we wanted him here.

I love this idea. Make sure he knows that we know he is there and that we want him at our school.

Visiting Xavier this weekend (9/13). According to 9/11 Scout.com story, Charlotte sent its’ entire coaching staff to check out Braswell on the first day of the open period.

His Hargrave teammate, Maurice Creek, is trying to get him to go to Indiana. Creek has already committed there. Braswell is staying firm with his plan to take all five visits.

what can we do at midnight madness to make sure that everyone is chanting his name. its one thing if a few people are doing it and its quite another if an entire arena is doing it.

The “Forty” “Niners” chant getting both sides of the arena involved works well. How about a “K.J.” "Chris"chant in like manner?

We got a “We want Wilderness” chant going a few years ago, even though we tried to push it on here, it only ended up geting about 20-30 people chanting at the event. The problem is that everyone is spaced out in Madness so you will have some people who might never show up to an actual game sitting in 104 and 105.

If somebody is really ambitious they could print out some small notes saying “We will be chanting for a highly rated recruit immediately following (insert event here, 3 point contest, dunk contest, women’s scrimmage), please join in the chant of ‘We Want Braswell’”…hand them out outside of the building and see how it goes.

I don’t think there’s a good way to unify people during Madness, either tell as many people sitting next to you as you can or try handing out notices to as many people as possible.

Either way, people here should decide when the chant will take place beforehand, it will be much easier to coordinate.

I can print up flyers if we need them.

100 printouts each with 10 one-sentance lines is probably more than enough. People who are interested should spread it from there when they get to their seats.

It’s just one idea, there are probably better ways to get this done, just not any that I can think of.
