Just a thought: Perhaps this facility has been in the works for a while (maybe before 2002 when they were promising recruits new facilities) so this money was being raised and allocated to this cause since before football?
Secondly: Perhaps its significantly cheaper to put up lights for a tennis facility than it is for a football facility.
Bottom line: Charlotte has been known for having world class facilities. We all have been to other universities and taken a look around, and yes, everyone has that “one facility” that may top ours (though thats rare), but all in all I’d challenge any university claiming to have a more well rounded set of facilities than ours.
That statement is hyperbole. Just not true. Of the 347 schools that play D1 sports, Charlotte overall is solid/adequate mid major in facilities.
I agree with this for the most part. Our facilities are pretty good. They look nice, shiny and new, so you’re impressed when you see them but then if you actually go looking at other schools you see ours are not the best in the world. I’d say above average, but not tops for sure.
Is it me or does that player suck? It takes forever to load. Someone pointed to a video there before and I clicked. It seems like it wants to load the whole video before it starts playing

I guess that all depends on what your opinion of solid facilities is… if its seating capacity you’re right… if you’re taking into consideration teams like NCSU who share the RBC center you’re right (aren’t you glad Halton is OURS - that’d suck). If not, I have to disagree. Overall we’re close to the top as far as a well rounded group of facilities.
I found the drawings and construction docs for the new tennis facility. The username and password for the ftp site is given here:
I like the seating area next to the courts for people to watch. Maybe this opens up opportunities for other matches to be held here…(amateur, youth, professional, etc). Wake Forest is already hosting the Winston-Salem Open; what about the Charlotte or NC Open?
