Phil Jones

he was wicked excited about playing cuse last i spoke to him.
Next thing you know, our Hofstra win will be taken away due to some asshole in the NCAA
I wish I could say that I’m surprised by this decision…but since we’re not a BCS school…

Bottom line, the NCAA is a dollar-driven machine. If they knew their promfit margin would be affected, Phil would’ve been made eligible. What’s next…take away the Hofstra win because Phil sat on the bench during the game?

A ā€œliveā€ conversation recently heard in the NCAA offices…

NCAA clearinghouse: Lets see, does Phil Jones’ team get on TV?
NCAA ā€œflunkieā€: No

NCAA clearinghouse: Does Phil Jones’ team play in games that sell lots of tickets?
NCAA ā€œflunkieā€: No

NCAA clearinghouse: Does Phil Jones’ team command local attention in the media?
NCAA ā€œflunkieā€: No

NCAA ā€œflunkieā€: However, it is worth noting that the Coach who recruited Phil is working very diligently to build a major college program?
NCAA clearinghouse: And your point is ? If the coach has not already built a major college program, it is his fault, not ours.

NCAA clearinghouse: Our decision is…Mr. Jones credentials do not meet our standards.

Snark aside, is the appeals process anything more than a sham?

Is he free to be re-recruited? I think with Rodney we had to resign him and could have lost him.

No. I don’t believe the NCAA has ever overturned a decision on appeal.

If we start to get blown out, can we play him to spite the NCAA? So what if they make us forfeit the game, we were losing already.

We’re starting to make a spectacular all-time screwed over team:

Marcus Bennett SG
Anjuan Wilderness SF
Phil Jones C

A point guard and power forward would make this team close to top 25 material.

we could always put him in a booker jersey…

You can borrow Billy Edelin.
Hope Jones does a better job oversoming an NCAA screwing than Billy did.

Why can’t we put him in Tripp Miller’s jersey? Just tell people he had a growth spurt and got some sun.

Rodney White PF
Demon Brown (not sure if we took him knowing he would be a partial qualifier or not… He could play the point on that team though)

I wasn’t really expecting to see Phil make a huge impact on this year’s team, but coming in 2007, I wanted him to at least have a year under his belt. It’s already going to be tough with having such a young front line next year. I wonder if the NCAA has a quota of kids they have to make ineligible every year. If they don’t reach it, everyone gets fired. What a bunch of %uckin# Douchebags.

What tha?!?!?!?!?!?
It’s bullshit like this and that Winthrop-UNCCH game that is ruining my desire to even pay attention to college athletics.
I was thinking exactly the same thing.

THAT is the question! i never hear about Duke and Carolina waiting. Now I don't know how many prep schools they pull from, but still, this is way too often. An'juan had to retake the SAT because he didn't do good enough, and then he does too good?! C'mon! I'm calling BS!

There is really no conspiracy. We are just forced to recruit a lot of problem guys becasue that’s whats left over. Duke doesn’t have many clearinghouse problems because they don’t touch these guys. We’ll take anyone that can chew gum and dribble at the same time.

Sean Dockery.

Next excuse.

I don’t think there is a conspiracy either, although, the big money schools do get big props. It’s a business, and that’s what happens. Oh, and also, the NCAA is a bunch of #uckin% Douchebags. Did I say that already? I’m sorry.

This fukin sucks.

I said doesn’t have many.

Maybe ou guys are right. The NCAA has a target on UNCC and theyare just out to get us. That makes a lot more sense then the fact that we go after any player with a pulse.

They guy walks away from Kentucky and shows up here a week late. This is the kind of guys we take. Rodney White went to every high school in America before coming here, no big surprise he didn’t clear. Bennett had issues before coming and we knew it. You guys seeing a trend here or is the conspiracy theory more fun?

By the way. If anyone who has any connection to the NCAA is reading this. Can you tell them to go ahead and ā€œinvestigateā€ our incoming class now, so we don’t have to deal with this shit next year. Oh, I forgot, you like to wait until a week before the season starts before you ā€œinvestigate,ā€ because, I don’t know, it makes sense. Thanks again.
