Poll: Was extending Fearne as HC the right move?

If we could just stay healthy, stay out of foul trouble, and hit our FTs, then weā€™d most likely be 5-1 instead of 3-3. Usually donā€™t have control over the first thing but do the others.

Would really be nice to have a 100% healthy Nika. Ditto Oden but he looks to be out for the season. Too bad we canā€™t go ahead and suit up Cross!

We arenā€™t going to lose to Livingstonā€¦ right?

No but it wont matter that we win. We might lose to WGU though

We would be better for sure, but this team really lacks a go-to leader on the court. Maybe that would have been oden. Iā€™ve never seen him play so I donā€™t know his on the court demeanor, but right now it just feels like everyone on the court wants to be a role player and have someone else be ā€œthe guyā€.

Could be that itā€™s Nika as well since he was UL Monroeā€™s leading scorer and rebounder last year. Hopefully the Livingstone game will get him jump-started offensively.

At this point, nothingā€™s a given.

I have hope that it may be Nika. To be fair he needs a little time to get going before we know what he may bring. He has to get ā€œgameā€ comfortable with guys on our team also.

I still like Fearne

Yes it was the right move. With NIL and open portal, you need someone who can coach players up. Fearne does that. Look how Braswell has blossomed, Graves as well
He is squeezing a lot out of this roster. Our talent will be better next year as he gets a chance to build.

ā€œChance to buildā€?

If he finishes with a NET 200+ is he not getting fired?

I hope not. I donā€™t want us to fire Fearne.

No more to early firings.

200+?

I hope not as well. He definitely doesnā€™t deserve that. Heā€™s getting a lot out of his players, especially earlier today

NET rankings

What is your net ranking? Should we consider firing you? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Iā€™m just saying letā€™s give him another couple of years to totally get his recruiting classes in and see his results. Firing coaches every two years is not how you build a program. Go look at some of the early records of all time great coaches ( and no I am not saying he is an all time great)

Given our two freshman in next yearā€™s class. Iā€™m hopeful for basketball. Injuries are a problem this year. If Graves is out for an extended period of time, we can flush this season.

You donā€™t need long to ā€œbuildā€ your basketball team. Losing top guys to the portal will be the norm. Itā€™s year to year now.

Normally I say a new basketball coach needs 3 years minimum BUT Fearne was kinda already here. We wonā€™t know what we will get with Fearne after 2 years? How did Fearne do recruiting in the portal this year?

If Fearne ends the year 200+ in the NET which Iā€™d assume isnā€™t even top 6 in the conference, he def needs to go. This is year 3 results for Fearne in my eyes. He had a short leash with me being the choice from interim coach from years of little success.

We have our top 3 transfers out help and now maybe Graves. No coach can overcome those issues. Fearne won 19 games last year which was one of the best in years so lets fire him.

With the portal 2/3 yrs is all you need to know if you got a coach. However, with nil you have to take into account injuries specifically injuries to anyone you are actually paying. Really puts a coach behind the 8 ball to win. I think you have to basically just have consider it a wasted year and reset for the following.

You have a right to see with your :eyes: what you will.
I believe Fearne is a very good coach and can/will win here.

I donā€™t want to start dumping coaches every two years. Do that too often, and we have already in football, and you start being a place no coach wants to risk coming to.
