Poll: Your feelings about UNC-CH

I was one, and though I know I'm going to get bashed anyways, I will say that I would have preffered an "it depends" option...

If Charlotte were to play UNC tonight, I’d pull for UNC. If UNC had lost to Valpo or anyone else earlier this year, I’d pull for Charlotte. To me, it matters what effect the outcome will have on the respective team. If Charlotte is playing UNC in the tourney and they have a realistic chance at winning the title, I’d be pulling for Charlotte. If it’s obviously just an upset situation and the Heels have a chance to cut down the nets, I’m pulling for the Heels. In regular season baseball, I’m pulling for Charlotte. If it’s the regionals and we’re talking same situation, upset but no real shot at title (although looking at Fresno I guess anyone has a shot) then I’m pulling for Heels.

Some of you can call it bandwagon, but bottom line, I want championships for my schools. If both have a shot at a title, I’m going with Charlotte since obviously they need it more than Carolina to build.

This guy is a class act. Your posts today have consisted of calling me a cancer, a retard, and then showing a picture of a kid w/ down. Solid work today. Are you going to bring anything with substance or is it just namecalling for you?

Edited to add that I have degrees from both schools. Thanks for the reminder SF.[/QUOTE]

If I was to measure my favorites in any sport sorely by championships, I would be pretty miserable.

my favorite NHL team has won 1 in ten years
my favorite NFL team has not won a championship in forever.
NBA …never and none apparent in the immediate future
NCAA men’s hoops…1 final four in their history
MLB…has not won a championship in close to 20 years.
NCAA football…once in the past 30 years.

Sure, championships are the goal, however, I have to look a little deeper.

In my opinion, you are a bandwagon, even if you have degrees from both. But I’m pretty sure my opinion is not too important to you.

The Chapel Hill fans that I know and have met would spit at you if you did anything other than show ALL PRAISE to Roy and Butch, and whatever they deem important.

ETA: my experience with UNC-CH fans speaks volumes for my attitude towards them and their athletics.

who the hell is UNC???

and as the official NNN baseball spokesperson, please don’t root for our baseball team, we don’t want ya or need ya. (serious)

Don’t give me that crap, I’m a Cubs fan.

Not really interested in your self-appointed titles. I’ll root for the baseball team with or without your permission.

I can assure you, they/we don't want a fan like you

I’m in the same division, different city — I’m a fan because its my hometown & it was the 1st pro sports team I ever saw.

I’m well aware that of the trials/tribulations of being a Cubs fan.

However, I would trade with you, if I could pull my personal allegiance away. I would rather have Steve Bartman and all of the other stuff that Cubs fans have endured than what I have.

At this point, I’m just hoping we can find a reliable #2 starter by Opening Day.

ETA: at least Cubs fans can think about wins/losses…competing for the playoffs is not in my vocabulary.

I’m a fan b/c growing up here we got WGN and TBS. 95% went with the Braves and got 13 or so division titles and a world series…the other 5% of us have yet to receive our reward. But you’re right, there’s nothing like the offseason for a Cubs fan…just wait till next year.

Did you forget that if he was rooting for us over UNC-CH, then he’s rooting against his own school? You know, you preach so vehemately against rooting for a school other than your own… seeing as he has degrees from two schools, how does he comply to the rules of the almighty metro?

I hate the politics that surround UNC-CH, I hate the Wal-Mart fans, I hate Tar Heel athletics, but I have no negativity towards a student or a grad.

And metro, take some tips from JoeSixPack. This is how you respectably talk trash to people. You don’t just start name calling when you run out of intelligent things to say.

Offseason for a Reds fan…just wait.

Offseason for a Reds fan..................just wait.

I don’t know if you’re allowed to root for two different Queen Cities. You may want to check with Metro on that.

Where do they get off calling themselves the Queen City? I’ve never heard of a Queen Cincy.

For real, Charlotte is the one, real Queen City.

I know, never made sense to me either. Maybe Joe can enlighten us…or wikipedia.

ETA: Wikipedia offers no help on the subject. Says Queen City is Cincy’s nickname but no explanation as to why. That will conclude my research for the day.

ehh, you crossed the line. I am not interested in being respectful at this point.

I have many posters I respectfully go back and forth with. Anyone who openly will root for the Heels over Niners I can’t respect.

he’s a lawyer, I am guessing he has his undergrad from Charlotte.

so ya know, in society most adults root for their undergrad alma mater over their grad school - if they meet up on the field.
