I did a search on here for “portal” and didn’t find this rendering of the PORTAL building on the CRI campus, so thought I’d share…
From here. Also, note the gateway – not sure how conceptual that is or not. Personally, I would have liked to see a clone of the Dickson Gate (on Hwy 49)… it “only” cost 4.5 million dollars. 
They continue to build all these huge buildings on the highway 29 side of campus but where is everyone going to park?
They’re going to build Parking Deck I on the CRI campus (over by EPIC building) Spring 2011 which will have about 1100 parking spaces.

They also plan to build another deck that will be connected to the new Motorsports Building on the other side of Duke Centennial. Guess this art was done before football was finalized. I wouldn’t put too much faith in that entrance design being final unless the PORTAL Building contract includes doing the entrance as well.
That entrance will look amazing once Portal is finished. That empty patch of ground that is overgrown with weeds looks like shit at the moment.

The business incubator is a great idea. Hopefully it will bring lots of new faces to the edge of campus and hopefully some of those will turn in to supporters of the university.
I don’t get it. Are there any concrete examples of success elsewhere?

Wonder what the time table is on the sprucing up of our HWY 29 entrance shown in this rendering?
How dare them not show the football stadium in the background!

My guess would be after they finish PORTAL and the stadium. All the other buildings they plan in the area can be more easily reached by the new south CRI entrance or the future north CRI entrance.

I’ve met several now successful companies in Maryland that started in incubators.
