positives from tonight

  1. Plavich made some free throws.

Thats all I can think of…

:stuck_out_tongue:

My initial reaction when I saw the thread title was “You actually found one???”

I’m not tore up over this game for some reason. Disappointed we lost and played like crap but it was a trap game for us. 9 game winning streak, Cincy off a home loss, Mitch hurt, etc. Just didn’t shape up good from the get go. I’m just frustrated that we got beat up on the boards so bad, particulary with the number of offensive rebounds we gave up. I thought we did a good job on them in the first half with our zone but truth be told, they were just cold from outside. Figured they’d come out of the half fired up and we failed to bring any intensity to the court in the 2nd half.

Not our night and as I said in the other thread, we saw just how important Mitch is to our team.

My positive: Lutz didn’t make a bad mistake of putting in Mitch out of desperation. We lost…Mitch will play Saturday and we will beat Marquette.

Typical excuses jcl.

We just continue to do the same crap game in and game out. The difference tonight is that we actually played a team worth a damn and get blown out in the second half. Just imagine if Cincy showed up in the first half…

I thought Goldwire did better in the 2nd half. He was pretty much abusing Muhammed.

I wasn’t really expecting a win, but our second half effort was really dissappointing. We should never be outscored by 26 points in one half by anyone!

Iti and Withers will both be back next year!!!

On second thought, is that a positive?

I must have watched a different game.

Okay it wasnt a break out game, but he did have some nice one-on-one moves for a point guard against Muhammed.

What excuses ATL? I’m not making excuses. I said that it was the perfect trap game for us to lose. Did you really think we’d run the table for the rest of the season and not lose another game? We were due to lose and we lost to a better (tonight) team. I understand your point about doing the same crap but doing that same crap had us entering this game on a 9-game winning streak, undefeated on the road and on the cusp of the Top 25. Didn’t realize that was so terrible, regardless of the opposition.

And Cincy didn’t show up in the first half so don’t play the “what if?” game if you’re going to come down on someone for saying it would have been a different game with Mitch in. Probably wouldn’t have won had he played, but this is a totally different team with him on the court. We saw it in the 2nd half against Saint Louis and we saw it for 40 minutes tonight.

Jihad Mohammed. I think its a positive that we don’t have anyone with such an inflamatory name on our team. Thats like naming an Iraqi kid Shock Andawe

By the way, how in the hell does Iti get just ONE rebound in 18 minutes of play??? That’s pathetic. :frowning:

Can we just start Nance from here on out?

Jcl, not meaning to single you out, but it’s the same excuses night in and night out.

The bottom line is that our style sucks. We are only built for that special upset where the stars align and everything falls into place.

I agree that Cincy is the better team, and that’s obvious, but we lose the same way almost every damn game and it’s the lack of discipline that tears me up.

The bottom line is that if we are ever to turn the corner, we have to cut the excuses and find that team effort that we used to be capable of (1998-99)…

And by the way JCL, can you name one quality win besides UAB in that 9 game streak? Smoke and mirrors if you ask me…

I didn’t schedule the games but you just have to win what’s put in front of you. 9 wins in a row is still 9 wins in a row. No, I’m not impressed with who we beat and I’m not even impressed with how we played in most of those wins. But we play who play and unfortunately, we don’t get to pick and choose from the elite programs.

And I agree that our style is little to be desired. If you go back through the threads from day 1, you’ll see me bashing how all we do is just jack up ill-advised shots and play pathetic perimeter defense. But with that said, I do think that when we’re healthy and our guys actually decide to show up, that we can compete with most teams out there. I think we’re a better team than Cincy, from top to bottom. But they outplayed us tonight in the 2nd half. We didn’t play great in the first half but we had a lead in the lockeroom and failed to suit up for the final 20 minutes.

I’m ready to turn the corner too but this was an expected loss and I’m not going to beat myself up over it. I’ll know more about this team on Saturday because if they fold at Marquette, then we’re in trouble. And again, I don’t think you can lose your starting PG and expect a true freshman to lead you to a win at Cincinnati. If you want to lable that as an excuse, that’s fine but my money is on us to beat them at Halton with a healthy Mitch.

Fair enough jcl, but I object to one thing you said and that’s the better than Cincy part. Absolutely not. They kicked our ass in the 2nd half, Mitch or no Mitch.

I sure as hell hope we show up vs. Cincy in Feb. I don’t want to drive up to Charlotte for nothing…

WE SUCK

Nah, the drive up is fine. It's the drive back you have to worry about, depending on the outcome. :)

whats this we suck garbage? we had a bad game. a very bad game. i dont understand why people have to start with the we suck stuff. we have to stick by this team.
