@rcronin7028 mentioned Bruce Weber resigning from K-State. He’s been a national runner up , a dozen or so NCAA tournament appearance including a relatively recent Elite 8. He’s also 65 years old and has had a pretty bad last three years. Could be interesting if there was mutual interest.
Cuonzo Martin would be a great get.
He’s another Sánchez. Good man, defensive coach, meh results.
Suggestion Mike … so that you don’t have to fire anyone simply swap coaches. Have Cara coach the men and Ron coach the women!
Why screw up the women?
I thought Hill already decided Sanchez is staying. Why are we still discussing candidates?
Question: over the years whom did we interview for the job, the ones i may or may not remember accurately; a HC from Miss State coach Richard Williams, Mooney ?(current Richmond coach), a coach from Siena? …. What other ones, it seemed Price was some sort of timing hire, ran out of time or lost out on someone(who was it?)
We interviewed Will Wade.
The Miss State coach, Richard Williamson was between Melvin and Bobby, IIRC and he was coming off a FF appearance and wanted THIS job…my, how things have changed.
FWIW, former Mississippi State HC Richard Williams is currently the special assistant to the head coach at Southern Miss. Also served stints as DBO at LA Tech and UAB, as well as color commentator for MSU basketball radio prior to landing at USM.
And speaking of USM, the AD announced he was sticking with HC Jay Ladner in spite of a 7-26 (1-17 C-USA) record this season and 24-65 overall in his three years in Hattiesburg.
Getting a head start on next year
Definitely worth a look. Cheap, brought longwood to their first tournament appearance and could definitely get. It took a while to get to dance their but he basically started from scratch.
