EJ and Dew were because of injury, totally different than what happened with Lewis and Barnett. Name me one player that redshirted who was healthy to play that ended up giving us anything the next year.

didn’t play for us and I am not saying they are the same caliber, but Brian Butch at Wisconsin redshirted his freshman year just to grow. Barnett wasn’t a waste anyways, giving a talented homegrown kid with untapped potential is never a bad thing. Having him and Dijuan, who is to say that in the next 2 years the VC connection pays dividends.

He was a McD’s AA by the way.
Martin Iti should have redshirted his Frosh season… twice.

I hope it does, BUT, like PowerBait said 10 posts ago we seem to like the “projects” and they seem to not work more times than they work, hopefully this time is different, but if history is any indicator I’m not holding my breath.
We have a chance at an experienced power forward as well. It will all come together. We landed 8 new guys last year and all met or exceeded expectations. Have faith.
The Charlotte 49ers appear to be on the verge of landing a talented scorer who would help replace the offense lost by the upcoming graduation of senior Leemire Goldwire.
RaShad Coleman, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound wing player who attends the Heat Basketball Academy in Martinsville, Va., made an official visit to the Charlotte campus over the weekend and came away impressed, said his coach, Jason Niblett.
“I would definitely say Charlotte is the frontrunner now,” said Niblett, a former player at East Tennessee State. “RaShad had a great visit. I think he was very impressed with facilities and the coaching staff.”
Coleman, from LaGrange, Ga., spent a 1½ years at NAIA school Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga., before joining the Heat Academy to develop his basketball skills.
He averaged more than 25 points per game this season and has received scholarship offers from Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State and interest from several other Division I schools, including N.C. State and Connecticut.
Coleman, 21, would have two seasons of eligibility remaining. The spring signing period begins April 16.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this PF is not Skeen… there has just been no mention of him at all or anything to confirm he is transferring. Someone is going to come out of left field.
If we have to count on Ian starting next year, and being one of our main scorers, we are in GIGANTIC TROUBLE! He is a great kid, but he is not truly major D1 material. If your role is to come off the bench and be an instant shooter, and you airball your first couple of shots then follow that up with a couple of makes, and then clank your next 4 shots off the rim (and this sequence is on a regular basis), then what purpose do you serve? He is a hard worker (will give you everything he’s got on the court, which sets a good example), he’s intelligent (gives team good GPA), and is a quality human being (never have to worry about off the court issues), and this is his true role. He will have th occasional hot game, but will never be a consistent scorer and is a defensive liability against other starting SG’s.

And only an hour later, out of left field, Shamari Spears.

Best part is… I post that and then say it 10 mins later in the shout box, Utter confirms it, and then we hear about Spears.
