The second best three point shooter in CUSA yet he averages 8 points a game while playing over 20 minutes a game. I would take Terrance Williams everyday of the week. Bowden just stands behind the three point line and does nothing else. Williams defends and attacks (He had twice as many free throw attempts and rebounds while playing 200 less minutes). Dude is a scrub.
If he had been nearly the scrub or team cancer you think he would have had every opportunity to get rid of him when this came up, he didn’t.
Or Richmond isn’t as good as Lebo thought, so Bowden is really his best option despite doing very little at all to help ECU actually win D1 games. Uh oh…
I can think of bigger problems to have than 2 guys that can shoot like they’ve proven they can. I’d be a lot more worried if I had a team that had no one to stretch the defense which is what you are staring at next year.
Shawn Lester supposed stud guard of the class
114-312 from the field 36%
37-156 from 3 in high school for 23%.
77-134 from Free Throws 57%
Shooting guard that can’t shoot a lick. Should fit right in with your other players.
We beat your last NCAA team. I guess by UNCC logic that means we were better team and had the better season.
As far as Bowden to put some closure on this, he sounds like a good guy. These quotes are pretty telling of what Lebo thinks of him. He’s been nothing but a good team player for us.
“I was shocked more than anything,” Lebo said. “Of all the guys that I’ve coached, and I’ve coached a lot of guys, (Bowden’s) the last guy that I would think would be involved in something like what he was charged with (but) when I talked with Shamarr about it, he completely put me at ease.” “Everybody makes mistakes,” Lebo said, “but I would have bet the ranch they were wrong (in Bowden’s case). I’m just happy to put it behind us and move forward."
You went 1-1 against that Charlotte team, not 1-0, genius. Both teams won on their home court, unlike last year when we came into your house and stepped on your neck. And, by the way, that was your only win against us in 8 tries in CUSA. By your definition 1-7 is thorough ownership for ECU, though, right? :o
You used the same logic when we 1-1 and you were our worst loss that year.
Lester a top 150 player : . Sounds very Nickerson-ish. You got to admit those percentages are horrible, and this is the guy many of you are penciling in to be your starter and a big scorer next year. That has to scare you. Hey but Bowden couldn’t have helped you next year.
Your team fucking sucks, didn’t improve like you say it did and you overpay your coach.
Would you like that gift-wrapped?
I also like that this fucktard was ready to write Bowden off for the vaunted DII transfer when it looked like he wouldn’t come back. Now that the charges are dropped, spin, spin, spin. You could put an ECU jersey on Hitler and SJ would try to rationalize the Holocaust as talent evaluation.
Godwin’s Law.

What rational fan would argue that a newby, a freshman at that is going to be one of our better scorers? Wouldn’t hear it from this guy. Hope Lester contributes and just can aid in keeping defenses honest. Whether he does that at 4 PPG or 14 PPG is more than I really care. I just want to win.
I can think of bigger problems to have than 2 guys that can shoot like they’ve proven they can.
Like can the team actually win games? Given all this talent ECU has amassed, it’s a wonder that Lebo went 11-16 last year. I guess his coaching is suspect. Uh oh.
All I said was if Bowden was gone we needed to get Moore when I found out he was looking to move up. Hardly unreasonable.
Moore 6-5
21.4 ppg 6.1 rpg 46% FG, 65 made threes on 36% shooting , 87% free throw going to the line 6 times a game vs college players
vs
Lester 6-3
14.8ppf 7.5 rpg shooting 36%, 23%, 57% vs high school farm boys
You going to tell me you wouldnt want a 6-5 guy that shot 87% from the line and got there 162 times or that percentage doesn’t translate. Especially with the question mark around your SG and basically any no shooters on your team. Kelsey at Winthrop got a player and I’d take that guy, Bowden, Richmond etc any day of the week over Lester or Williams. You guys get these players that can’t even average 15ppg in high school and hype them as elite talent.

Depending on transfers and JCs is a great way to end up sucking forever so it will fit right in at ECU. The difference is our young guys have a high ceiling and can grow and help build a program. Your transfers and recruits do nothing for your program longterm and infact Lebo’s recruiting is so great and his players are so awesome that your experienced players are barely better than our young players overall (per your RPI crap) and we are still beating you head to head while actually building a foundation for the rebirth of our program.

There are only so many points to be had in a game, so if you have a lot of talent, that is going to result in less points for each player.
When you recruit guys that play on terrible basketball teams where they are the only talent, all scoring is going to run through them.
A lot of HS players that are being recruited by DI schools would do very well at DII programs, so saying you’d rather take a guy playing against “college” players over a HS player is foolish.
It’s not really worth arguing over. Braswell is going to put up 30 on you this year because you have no post experience/talent. You will lose…again…disappear until the offseason and then tell us how much better ECU will be than Charlotte. Now that we’re in the same conference, we get to repeat this process every year, twice.
Just look at these pathetic stats.
Lester 14ppg
Nickerson 11ppg
Thorn 10ppg
Benkovic 13ppg
Williams 16ppg
Illyovic 8ppg
etc, etc
Even if they do actually pan out as D1 players after a couple years of waiting on them likely, do you really think they have a high ceiling when they couldn’t average 15 points in high school and shoot like that?
Lebo didn’t take over a top 75 team like Major did. He had to get his own players and most of our players on the court last year were Lebo recruits including our star who’s already all conference. Had he not brought players ready to play like Bowden it would have been a much worse rebuilding year replacing 65% of our scoring. You by contrast had exactly 2 players total in two years Major has recruited playing large roles your team, and one of them is a transfer.
We got an Auburn Transfer and Sampson returning, so we have experienced older post players. Fact is as sorry a 3 point shooting team as you will probably be this year we’ll just colapse on Braswell.
With all our crappy players, we still beat ECU consistently.

OH please do …I mean we’re gonna’ beat EZU’s butt like we always do, so curb-stompin’ yall from the outside would actually make it funnier since you seem to think we’ll be so terrible at shooting from outside.

Braswell shoots 3’s at nearly the same percentage Akeem Richmond did his last season at URI.

I’ve never seen another poster on any message board go to such great lengths to defend a bottom feeding basketball program’s honor. We beat you last year. Either you have to admit, (A) we matched up as a better team, or (B) Major out coached Lebo with an inferior team. Having a realistic grasp on basketball I would suggest you go with (A), and go away.
Once you get past the top 40-50 teams anybody could defeat or be defeated by anybody. It’s a pretty safe conclusion that both Charlotte and ECU sucked last year, and that both were fairly even in said level of ‘suckness’. I don’t know why anyone would want to waste THIS MUCH TIME trying to rationalize the differences between these 2 awful teams. Takes “sore loser” to an entirely new level.
PS - ECU is going to suck this year too
Yes they are. The fact we are even arguing over ECU basketball shows how far we have fallen.
