So have any of you been up to Mooresville to see Lester play?
NLP mentioned trying to watch him this Thursday .
I’ve watched him play several times. Not since he signed though. I live in Mooresville and should go more often.
Yeah there’s a Top150 signee playing right in our backyard, Niners Nation needs to get out there and show him some love. Also I’d love to see some scouting reports from you guys.

Mooresville's Shawn Lester (3) gets a dunk against Ardrey Kell during their first round game in the Hardwood Classic at Bojangles' Coliseum on December 27, 2011. Mooresville won, 57-47. David T. Foster III-dtfoster@charlotteobserver.com

Eight of the Blue Devils' 12 steals came in the second half and Lester took advantage, scoring half of his game-high 14 points in the fourth quarter, including consecutive baskets to break a 45-45 deadlock with four minutes left. Howell matched Lester with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting and six rebounds.“The difference was Shawn Lester,” Ardrey Kell coach Mike Craft said. “It was 45-all and he gets five straight points. He goes in and makes an acrobatic layup and hits a three (point shot) and we never could recover.”
While you are at Bojangles Arena watching our new recruit, be sure to catch the first game of the session at 6:50. Northside Christian Academy has a fantastic team coached by Byron Dinkins.
Today’s big game: Kennedy Charter vs. Northside at 6:50 tonight could be the best high school game in Charlotte this year (read more at obsprepspot.blogspot.com).

Northside has a big game coming up on Jan 14. A 6:00 pm home game against Davidson Day. This should be a pretty good test for Dinkin’s oppressive defense.
Ardrey Kell (3-8) gave Mooresville all it could handle until the Blue Devils' pressure defense broke open a tight game. Eight of the Blue Devils' 12 steals came in the second half and Lester took advantage, scoring half of his game-high 14 points in the fourth quarter, including consecutive baskets to break a 45-45 deadlock with four minutes left. From yesterday’s semi-final:
Shawn Lester, Mooresville: 26 points, eight rebounds, three steals, three blocks, two assists in 59-57 overtime win over Davidson Day in the semifinals.
Notes from LWertz…
– Really impressed with Mooresville guard Shawn Lester. He has a very mature game. He’s a great ball-handler and has a great step-back jump shot move that reminds me a little of Bobcat Kemba Walker.
Wish I was back in town this week. The finals matchup between Mooresville and Northside tonight would be a great chance to see both former and future Niners in the same game.

Looks like we will have Niners past vs Niners Future tonight with Byron Dinkins coaching against Lester in the title game.
This kid can’t get here fast enough. WE NEED SHOOTERS!!! AND FAST!
Nice write-up, but 14 ppg does not look like he is a savior for next year. I hope the 7 threes in a row is indicative of something bigger.
But I remember a guy named Bowden, our last shooting savior.
Did you read that he’s not looking for his offense and trying to get his teammates involved? Sounds to me that he is trying to round out his PG skills so that could potentially see time at both positions.
Good to see someone round out their game. But we need points. We need a guy who can shoot close to 40% on 3s and hit three or more a game. He shouldn’t be one-dimensional like Bowden. Still 14 ppg in HS does not translate into big-time college scorer.
