…Factory last night having dinner in Raleigh. The Clemson-State game is on the bar tv, and the dude next to me is living and dying on every play. I am in Raleigh, so I thought he was a State guy, but I asked him and he was a Clemson grad. So we start rooting for Clemson together and I told him why I was cheering for them (since we had just smacked that ass and helps RPI).
He then goes on a 5 minute rampage about the Niner game- calling our game the “hangover” game and how they should of beat a “school like Charlotte all things considered.” I almost bit my tongue in two trying to be nice, but decided to ask him how many NCAA’s Clemson had played in (much less won a game) the last 10 years vs “a school like Charlotte.” It was a pleasant conversation and he did get pwned, and told him at least it was a “quality loss for yall” since we had beaten Wake, SIU, Temple, etc… but it just goes to show you how so many dolts think.

I thought this was going to be a story about Ian Andersen since he frequents the Cheesecake Factory. Instead, it just informed me that ACC fans have inflated senses of their school’s worth(s).

I could understand a Duke or UNC CH guy thinking “we should not lose to a school like Charlotte” but not from a Clempsun fan. They have been the doormat of the ACC for 20 years.

Well, everytime I talk to my friend who is a UNC-R alumnus about other ACC teams he talks about how they don’t belong, no one else in the ACC likes them or how they suck… I often sit silently and look at him until he’s done and reply with “and NC State is better?” It’s a disease in the ACC.
What was his response when you brought up the NCAA trips for clem in the last 10 years??
“uhh…umm we’ve been to 2 or 3 NCAAs”
I told him we had advanced in 5 of them, (hate that old stat, but it has its moments)
he was hung up on the phrase “all things considered” we should beat Charlotte. :ticked::ticked: I regret not telling him, “all things considered we would of beat you by 20 at Halton”

Bingo… haha… the last time the school paid for me to go out of town for a seminar I was living high on the hog.
I believe it was Lefty who said last appearance was 1998. Not sure who went further and said 7 total appearances with furthest being Elite 8 versus 11 appearances for us with of course the Final Four being our furthest.
Nice story Metro. My girlfriend’s brother in-law is a big Duke alumni and one day we set down and college b-ball. We were talking about tickets and I told some stories about camping out for tickets and he responds “oh wow you mean you have to camp out for a UNCC game?”

You are obviously a better man than me. A few yrs ago I was in Atlanta for a meeting and tried to leave to get home in time for the 1st round of the NCAA on a Thurs.
I got delayed and had to stop in Anderson, SC at Hooters to catch our game. I was watching with a bunch of Clemson fans and it almost got ugly. They really liked my comments about the ACC is bascially UNC-Ch and Duke with the MAC fighting for third place in most yrs.
Not only that, they claimed to be a football school and got quite offended when I said I didn’t know football schools lose to Furman and NC St.
It wouldn’t have been a fair fight though, there were 3 of them and I was planning on fighting dirty.
