Looks like we will be joining something else in 3-5 years…
A10 losing temple, Xavier, butler and charlotte. Still better than cusa but far from what the a10 is today. I wonder who the a10 will add. Davidson might try to even get in.
I don’t think you’ll ever see Davidson in a conference like that. They said no to the CAA (a far superior league at the time) because of their academic policies for athletes. Its something to the tune of all that traveling isn’t good for one’s studies. Almost every SOCON schools is within driving distance of this area.

That and playing against better competition is bad for ones NCAA aspirations.
pretty sure you could have started this topic a decade ago
True but we really did not have a shot 10 years ago. We needed to start football way before this year to be in a position to capitalize on this situation. {Insert water under bridge pic here…}
Also saw Dayton and St. Louis joining in 2014. The CUSA move was a great move for us not only for football, but now for basketball with this news. I’ll bet VCU fans are pissed.
I was thinking the same thing.

A10 will still be better in basketball than the CAA, and will probably pull the better teams from the CAA. Food Chain is a Mother F*****!

Who does the A10 go after? After all those rumored defections it’s back at 10, which would hold true to the name. Who would go to that conference with that state of basketball in the A10? I guess possible targets would be Davidson, College of Charleston, Hofstra, Drexel, Northeastern, George Mason, maybe UNCW? VCU could own this conference like Boise State owns the MWC if they play this right.
Our move to C-USA went from looking incredible, to sucking majorly given circumstances, to looking fantastic again. This conference realignment stuff is wild. The basketball conference we will be in will be much closer in talent level, if not better than what the a10 will be after all this.

Not sure any of those teams will bolt. Davidson has no interest in traveling. And with the defections Its not really much better to be in the A-10 than it would be to just stay in the CAA. That being said Drexel, NE, and GM would be good fits. How pissed is VCU right now? They both the CAA to join this new power house A-10 only to have it crumble right under them.

It really seems to have hurt William & Mary… or not.
Anyone want to complain about moving to CUSA now?
Nope. But I never complained about moving to C-USA in the first place as it was a necessary move for our newest and most expensive sport. Sure, I hated when we lost ECU, but I firmly believe that the nC-USA will be at least on par with the nA-10 for BBall.
Also, any likelihood that C-USA accepts Tulane and ECU back into the fold if they decide to check their pride and head for the stability of their former conference?
Just curious - what makes anyone think that CUSA is more stable than any other conference?
Does anyone think this? Speaking for me I don’t think it is more stable - just that it puts us in a place to be players down the road - now that could be 2 years down the road or 15. The instability in the league is what provides us the opportunity to make a move.
Relative to the old BE at least we have a full conference and a name.
I wouldn’t say more stable, but c-usa has so many members I don’t think we are in near the danger of folding like a conference like that one ECU Memphis, USF and UCF are in which doesn’t have a name.
Is there a conference that’s completely stable at this point? Football and tv revenue has changed the landscape of college sports and just about every team is vulnerable to conference shifts.
