DUDE I THINK BOBBY SHOULD SERIOULSY START NANCE OVER ITI ON THURDSAY… WE NEED A PHYSICAL REBOUNDING SOURCE AND AS WE KNOW ITI CANT PROVIDE THAT (OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER)
Iti is doing just fine. Don’t change a thing.
and I think Bobby would put EJ in the starting lineup before Nance. I think Iti showed promise against S. Miss. I do wonder if he’d have greater impact coming off the bench.
Iti’s stat line from last year’s UofL game…
20 minutes
8 points (4-6 FG)
6 rebounds (2 OR, 4 DR)
1 block
1 steal
1 assist
0 turnovers
Plus bonus pic from that game:

Through scouting and Eddie’s tough defense, we should be able to limit Garcia’s points to 16 or so. The thing that will kill us is the outside shot from O’Bannon or Taquan Dean. I’ll bet E.J. will play some MAJOR minutes on either (or both) of those guys.
I’m not advocating a change in the “starting” lineup, (I’m superstitious) but I’m confident Coach Lutz will find the best matchups and exploit them.
If Iti doesn’t start 2 things could happen:
-
He gets really pisssed off and takes it personal and when he gets put in just royally sucks
-
He gets really pissed off and takes it personal, then when he gets put it, goes ape shit and scores 20 points…
Iti’s play will be a major factor thursday, but I think Withers points and rebounding, and Eddies ability to shut down Garcia, and do what he does on the boards and in scoring will decide the game. And don’t expect Louisville to be shooting the way they did against Memphis. People always shoot well against us, and if they don’t, then we also shoot terribly.
Iti will start, EJ will sub in 4:30 minutes into the game…I don’t think Iti will see 20 plus minutes, but he will play in the second half. Which is saying a lot if you look past Southern Miss to our few games before that.
I back Iti 100%, but I would seriously experiment with him coming off the bench. He did pretty good with it last year. But I don’t think Lutz would start Nance. I think he really loves the line-up when EJ is in there with the starters. Oh yeah, I loved the Iti chant on Saturday and by the way I told you all so.
GO NINERS.

The thing about starting Iti (beyond the fact that we’re now 21-4 like that) is that he can burn a foul or two, or cause a foul or two, and we’re not hurting.
i.e. the Memphis game, he goes for a dunk and is fouled about 30 secs into the game (maybe more, I forget). Then, he commits a foul at the other end not long after. So it doesn’t hurt us, but it saves Nance, EJ and Curt from picking up fouls.
Keep starting him, he deserves it just from the USM game, if nothing else.
The dude who sits in front of me went from “Get Iti out of the game” on Wed to “Give the ball to Iti” on Saturday. :o Then we all joined in on the Iti chant. I hope he re-lives last year’s UL game.
start iti.
Martin had 1 good game…i’m not a fan of his,but I was very happy to see him play well(albeit against a very small team) I was amongst those praising him during his blockfest. But I also can’t ignore most of the previous 20 games or so.I have no problem with starting him…he’ll probably frustrate Lutz within the first 5 minutes or so anyway, but as prior post said…the fouls he’ll draw help keep Curtis and Nance on the floor longer.
Iti played well against U of L last year. He had a series in the 2nd half where he had 2 or three straight dunks.
Iti will start. Lutz isn’t going to experiment.
Start Martin, he’s due for a big game. Plus, I want to see some more of those nasty bad blocks.
The fact that most of us can remember each of Martin’s good plays/games…tells you all you need to know.I hope louisville doesn’t start the “hack-a-Martin” strategy! Watching him at the foul line is like hearing the dentists asst. call your name to come in for your root canal!

[/b]Dude that 2 block sequence sat was nassssssttttyyyy. Nobody could get the ball over Iti. He was just like a Hockey player without a stick.......just gliding around lookin to knock the shit out of something.
Iti is a unique player. He sucks, but at the same time he gives our team an element that we need so badly. I think its just Eddie is so good we need a scrub like Iti to balance him out.
Start Iti; let’s try to get the most we can out of him before he goes in the 1st round of the draft this summer.
iti definitly isnt a scrub. we had unreasonably high expectations for him when he came to school here. he has only been playing basketball since eighth grade and if he continues to get good help with his game he will be exactly what we thought we were getting when he arrived at school.
Chris will play about 19 minutes and foul out. In the process though he’ll get 7 rebounds, score 3 put backs, and hold down the paint.
