Starting lineup in 2012/13

I understand the players’ desire, I am talking about the debate as fans.
Any player who does not have a burning passion to start and play as many minutes as possible is short changing the game and him or herself.

As for fan ego, I think its a natural reaction to root for an want your favorite player or players to do well, be treated fairly, and play as much as possible.

In the end we are all 49er fans and want the same thing.

A CHAMPIONSHIP

Starting just means you play early in the game. Finishing the game means you played well and earned the coaches trust. I’d prefer to finish the games in crunchtime.

If i’ve read these endless posts correctly…Sokool thinks that Deuce should be starting…or at least playing, more than Derrio.I don’t think that he’s saying that Henry shouldn’t be starting,or playing more.

Sokool…if that’s what you’re saying I absolutely agree with you.If not…i’m lost.
Lucky57 you are 100% correct.

This is exactly what I am saying, and have been saying all along. ;D
Really!!! What about when you said “We beat Tennessee, Georgia Tech, East Carolina, a much better Wright St team, took a Coastal Carolina team (that was better than any team we have played thus far) to double overtime and went on a 4 game winning streak OOC last year with Deuce and Derrio at the guard spots.” or
"Felt i’m not just using the 4 game winning streak. I’m saying that we went 8-6 OOC last year with Deuce and Derrio at the guard spots. We also played a much tougher OOC schedule and had nowhere near the overall talent that this team has.

OOC is the focus right now because no one truly knows what the overall season is going to turn out to be. We could very well go 2-14 in conference again as this team has not been tested by the likes of A-10 competition.

So as some suggest that Deuce and Derrio could not do the same or better with more talent and a much softer OOC schedule strikes me to be somewhat RIDICULOUS."

It sounds to me like you were making a push to see Derrio and Deuce as the lead guards. I don’t really care which one starts. In 3 years both will end up as the “Butter” Johnson’s of the team. Who??? Exactly!!!

Damn - is it Monday yet? If the team is as anxious as the fanbase is, Coppin State is going to lose by 50+ and may need a few ambulances to leave the arena.

Hell Yeah!!

I know you aren’t hating on Butter.

LOL. For real. We are all starved for Niners hoops. That ass kicking of Davidson really left me immediately wanting more.

Well, Deuce and Derrio play about the same minutes per game (barring the very beginning of the season when Deuce was playing very poorly) and whoever is having the better game plays the most minutes.

I don’t see where the issue is, because that is the way the game should go. Luka tends to play less than either player. So, our guard rotation goes Henry, Derrio/Deuce, Luka, TWill. I understand that sokool wants Deuce to start, I get it. But to me, it doesn’t matter who starts, it matters who plays the most minutes in the game.
Not saying anyone on our team is like this, but it’s an ego thing. A lot of players would rather start and play 20 minutes a game than come off the bench and play 30.
That is very true but a coach should be able to manage that. Sometimes it’s as simple as just explaining it to a kid, at this level, maybe you pump it in the pressers and the paper to get the kid’s head where it should be.

Me too. That’s why we’re going to watch Darion Clark kick ass on ESPN at 8 tonight. He will make an alley-oop dunk and I will feel a little better.

WHO??? :))

PG: Henry
SG: Braswell
SF: Nickerson
PF: Sherrill
C: Clayton
I’m really bored and there’s like a freakin month til the Coppin State game, so I figured this would be a fun topic to discuss.

It’s a hell of a long ways off, but who do you think starts next year?

Spots 1, 3, and 5 seem to be locks with Pierria, Demario, and Braz. SG and PF are up for grabs.

I’m thinking we will see

pg - Pierria
sg - Lester
sf - Demario
pf - Clayton
c - Braz

I’d like to see Deuce start at SG, but I have the feeling it will be Lester.
I’ve changed my mind. If Lester can hit a frigen jumper, he might as well start.

I see what you did there haha. Chris “I’m open all the way out here on the three point line and I can make them in shoot around so I should take it” Braswell

That’s debatable.

It was a joke. I just don’t like him jacking up threes…which we all complained about Spears doing.
