I’m sure there is no connection between Trump’s relationship with Musk and his decision to impose this tariff.

I don’t do individual stocks but I did significanly raise my 401k contribution percentage about two weeks ago to take advantage of all the selling. It’s a strategy I’ve take after 9/11, Financial crisis, and covid maket sell offs. That strategy always worked out well for me. The upside may not come tomorrow, next week, or even next year, but it always comes. Now, all this is said given one has proper asset allocation/diversification.

clt says it is only a loss on paper now

…and time to ride out what is going on. Some of us deep into retirement don’t have that luxury. I’m afraid my heirs are going to hate me for not being smarter.

I believe there is actually an ETF that bets against Cramer’s picks.

As of 1:45 PM, there is no black Monday this week. No guarantee there won’t be one later on today or this week.

Charts very eerily similar to Black Monday 1987.
Good times…

clt says we need this today:

If there any Historians left in 100 years they will see this as the dumbest decision / choice a freely elected country has ever made. Its not even politics to me now. It is right vs wrong and blind allegiances to stupidity.

While true, anyone deep into retirement shouldn’t really have too many stocks in their portfolio, give the obvious risk. it’s fine to have some stocks, but stocks, imo, should be a rather small percentage of the overall retirement portfolio.

Smoot-Hawley 1929. I have 1K that says the guy that instituted the Tariffs doesn’t know what that is.

I would take that bet.

Thanks for the advice. I took a large portion of my portfolio out of stocks after the post election bounce. Wish I’d have taken it all, but I was talked out of that.
Should have listened to my own advice.
