Stop bashing Bobby for Last Night

Unbelievable. Yeah it sucks we lost, but the bashing of Bobby is downright unmerited. We dominated for the most of this game and unfortunately couldn’t hit shots (free throws especially) for 10 mins in the 2nd half.

The only reason why we were even close was because Bobby made the right decisions. Had he not gone with the press and stuck with it even after the couple of easy dunks we would never have forced those turnovers that keyed the rally. It was over 5:00 in the game. Most coaches after having given up a layup would have applied full court pressure and tried to inch back in, Bobby stuck to his guns and the guys rewarded him. Here is the facts: Bobby manueveured the situation so that his team could actually tie the game up. It came down to 1 play for each side. GW ran a simple isolation in which Elliott pushed off to get his open shot.

Bobby set up a play to get his hot shooter the ball. Emotion says that he would go with DA on senior night. He went against the grain and went with logic over emotion and Hobbs called his bluff and sent a double over Leemire. We swung the ball. Bobby didn’t tell DA to step back to 3 and fadeaway. That was DA’s decision. Stop blaming Bobby for the fact that his players didn’t make shots and made some bad decisions.

BTW if we had JJ, who would have been guarding Carl Elliott that last play?

Makes you wonder.

I thought Bobby did a very good job last night. The defense held a fast paced GW team to 62 points. They are a team that very rarely blows leads and they almost did. Give Bobby a rest. He coached a good game and doesn’t deserve this.

It’s a cumlative affect, its not just one game, and the fact that we didn’t even run offense during the last play, and WE never score out of a timeout, when oher teams do it everytime.

another one of these threads eh?

nice design, for the last play to win the game:(

nice design, for the last play to win the game:(

the play was designed to get lee the shot. he was immediately doubled. the ball was then passed around to others that were also immediately doubled. ian andersen was wide open the whole play on the other side…would you want him to take the game winning shot? if he would have and missed, people would say the same things, so it doesnt matter.

DING DING DING!!!

We have a winner!

Fair enough, but the criticism for last night is absurd. Bobby pushed the right buttons, we just didn’t win. That happens sometimes.

AMEN!!!

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What he said…
AMEN!!!
amen?
the coaches can press the buttons, but don’t blame the players (most of them don’t deserve to be in D1), somebody had to recruit these stiffs and sign them.

Taking a 5 point lead at halftime and turning it into a 12-14 point deficit w/ 10 mins to go is hardly “pushing the right buttons”. Some credit for the comeback, but we got ourselves in that position in the first place w/ a lot of bad shots and play.

Anyone watch the Wisconsin or Stanford games yesterday? Both came down to big 3pt shots at the end and each team essentially ran the same play as we did, but the screener did a better job and the shooters (Tucker) made the shot…

It really is amazing to watch some of these people continue to take up for Lutz. It has been obvious to some of us for quite some time that this undisciplined, outside-in-offense, no-playing-defense type of ball is running the program into the ground. Some people are obviously tied to the prgram through friends, family and favors. Some people just don't want to admit it because they are stubborn or it hurts too bad. Or maybe it's just easier to believe everything is A-Okay. Others are just plain ignorant.

I missed back-to-back home games for the first time since we started playing in Halton. I’m sure plenty of other fans are fed up too. If we come out next year playing the same crappy way, combined with the new people not being very talented, I’m sure I’ll miss more games.

If you would have told me a couple of years ago that Winthop, App, Davidson and Charleston would be much better than us, I would have laughed at you. Yeah I bleed green but I’m getting tired of bleeding.

So let me get this straight…You weren’t at the game but yet you know how the thing played out. Really? How interesting. I wish I was omniscient too.

Seriously we led for the entire 1st half and gave the game away in the 1st 10 minutes of the 2nd half. It’s unfortunate but what happened is partially Bobby’s fault but part of it goes to the players. Especially the most irresponsable senior ever who got a stupid technical and took bad shots to end the game and during the game. How about DA. He should get more blame then Bobby. He is the best player on the team and is the supposed leader yet on one possesion Carlos jacks up a stupid three and DA gets the rebound and goes and jacks up an immediate stupider three pointer. HELLO!!!

Then to prove that he can brick threes on the last play of the game he steps back and falls away on a 3 pointer instead of shooting the 2 for the tie.

And to top it all off he got a dumb technical after a 3 point make by Leemire to give GW free points and a possesion with 35 seconds in the half court. Not to mention the fact that he can’t guard anyone which is why we have to use undersized Lee to guard the oppositions best player.

If we are finding fault lets direct it at the right player. Not just at the coach.

No offense, Fan1, but D/A is Bobby’s boy. He recruited him, and he has coached him for 3 years (counting the year he sat out and practiced). Bobby is ultimately responsible for all the wins and losses and how the team plays. Like it or not. He hand picked this team and coaches them, and the last 2 years have been nothing short of putrid.

Just a note though: I swear, I looked at my friend before the last play and said, you know we’re gonna lose on a fallaway 3, right? Its so comical you can’t even get upset at it anymore. I know the play was going to Lee (for a 3, no doubt), but he gave it up when doubled. But, I’m telling you, I bet 50% of the arena knew we were going to take a terrible %age 3 pointer to end the game. We’ve just seen it way too many times before.

So let me get this straight...You weren't at the game but yet you know how the thing played out. Really? How interesting. I wish I was omniscient too.
Calm down smart guy, I watched the game on TV. The rest of what you typed is the same crap different day. Never blame Lutz. Always blame the player that Lutz recruited and coaches. Lutz continues to let some players freelance and not play defense. Other players get benched and never get a smell. I can name a long list of coaches that would never let their players do the same crap over and over and over without repercussion. Lutz reeps what he plants.

You are obviously too close to Lutz to be objective.

Most of em can’t see the Forest for the trees.

Lutz’s time has come and gone. Nothing short of a miracle can save him now. He may still be here next year , but question if back to fully complete his contract. There are too many people fed up with the same old stuff.

While we are at it, I find very amusing the comments made by the Lutz lovers that we should shut up, reminds me of a bunch of Democrats.
