Summer Movies 2015!

I know we are all deep in coaching search news currently, but with April around the corner it means summer movie season is almost upon us.

April 3:
Fast and Furious 7 – Paul Walker’s swan song as the gang gets together one more time.
Last Knights – Morgan Freeman and Clive Owen star in this thriller around avenging a dishonored master.

April 10:
Ex Machina – About an AI with emotional intelligence more sophisticated and deceptive than the creators realized.
Kill Me Three Times – Simon Pegg vehicle with him as an assassin that takes place in an Australian surfing town.

April 17:
Unfriended – A “found footage” style picture centering around a deceased classmate messaging friends their darkest secrets.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 – Kevin James back with the sequel no one asked for.

April 24:
Some movies staring Russel Crowe, Harrison Ford and Emma Watson. None look that appealing. Russel Crowe movie about Australian farmer going to Turkey in 1919 to look for sons. Harrison Ford movie has Blake Lively who does not age and embarks on an incredible life and Emma Watson movie about some little kid that wants to end WW2. Yaaaaaawwwwwwwwwnnnnnnn

May 1:
The Avengers: Age of Ultron – Marvel brings back the team and movie will likely become #1 grossing movie of all time. James Spader plays the pissed off android with feelings Ultron.
She’s Funny that Way – Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson star in the movie to capture the ladies market opposite Ultron.

May 8:
Hollywood wisely avoids the second weekend of Ultron. Nothing of note.

May 15:
Mad Max: Fury Road – George Miller finally brings Max back. Starring Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy as Max. Looks like a return to the glory for Max! Picture managed to lock in a hard R rating.
Pitch Perfect 2 – blah blah blah but a certain hit

May 22:
Tomorrowland – Brad Bird brings this George Clooney vehicle to life. Looks to be a good ride!
The Spy – Melissa McCarthy is a deskbound CIA analyst that goes into the field – stuff happens.

May 29:
San Andreas – The Rock says you should see this movie about tectonic shifts.

June 5:
Insidious: Chapter 3 – Third installment of the Insidious franchise. Basically a new tale of terror that predates the haunting of the Lambert family in the previous installments.
Entourage – Turtle, Vincent Chase and Ari are finally up on the big screen – after the finale back in 2011 though it remains to be seen if anyone cares.

June 12:
Jurassic World – Dinosaurs and dinosaurs and hybrid dinosaurs.

June 19:
The Transporter Refueled – Will anyone buy The Transporter if the Transporter isn’t Jason Statham? Is he even driving an Audi?

June 26:
Ted 2 – Everyone’s favorite cussing bear is back. In a cage match between Ted and Teddy Ruxpin my money is on Ted.

July 1:
Terminator: Genysis – Arnold is back with a horrible movie title. Starring The Queen of Dragons as Sara Connor everything has changed.
Magic Mike XXL – Drop the ladies off to see this while you go see Arnold.

July 10:
Minions – The best part of the Despicable Me movies get their own feature. Question is are they just as funny carrying the film?

July 17:
Antman – The power of Marvel is put to the test as after some preproduction problems of losing a director and script rewrites we get Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangline Lilly as the stars. Can Marvel withstand all the changes to make sure the box office doesn’t shrink like the title character?

July 24:
Pixels – Basically aliens attack as 80s style video games. Peter Dinklage, good – Kevin James and Adam Sandler, bad – so who knows?
Pan – Peter Pan with Hugh Jackman taking the role of Blackbeard and leaving the metal work up to Garrett Hedlund as Captain Hook. Also stars Rooney Mara and Amanda Seyfried.
Poltergeist – It’s Baaaaaacccckkkkkkk. But seriously why? I mean remake old movies that were not good ok, but remaking classics? What is next? Let’s remake The Birth of a Nation or maybe North by Northwest. C’mon Hollywood remake s*** not good stuff.

July 31:
Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation – Tome Cruise picks up the mantel of Ethan Hunt for the 5[sup]th[/sup] time since 1996 and this time there will be crazy stunts, explosions, car chases, hot women and some comedy. Guess ya dance with the partner that brought ya.

August 7:
The Fantastic 4 – Well the last two were too campy this one looks too crappy with some terrible casting. Best case scenario is picture bombs and rights go back to Marvel. Just don’t go see this, even though Kate Mara will look good in the FF4 outfit.

August 14:
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. – Set in the 1960s CIA Agent and KGB Agent must team up to stop an international criminal organization.
Straight out of Compton – A must see for any rap fan from the late 80s.
Masterminds - The story born right here. Follows the Loomis Fargo Heist idiots. Sure to be funny with an awesome cast. K. Whig, Zach G, Jason S, Owen Wilson. I am too lazy to make sure I am spelling their names correctly.

August 21:
Nothing of note.

August 28:
Hitman: Agent 47 – Hollywood takes another stab at this video game story. At some point a studio will do a video game right and it will kick off wave of movies just like Spiderman and XMen did. Is this the one? Probably not.
Regression – Starring NLP’s fav Emma Watson. A detective investigates a case of a young woman who accuses her father of an unspeakable crime. A psychologist is brought in to relive the memories unmasking a nationwide mystery.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: The Green Destiny – 15 years after the release of the first comes the sequel. No word of if this one is subtitled, for the sake of Gastonia people I hope not.

FTFY

Black Mass - September 2015

That Entourage movie had better be good or 1) Im gonna be angry, and 2) it’s gonna flop. It’s been way too long since the show ended.

tl;dr: Avengers: Age Of Ultron & Jurassic World. Then Star Wars in December.

My must see movies for the summer are

Mad Max
Ultron
Tomorrowland
Jurassic World
Terminator
Minions
Antman
Mission Impossible
Straight Out of Compton
SPECTRE
and of course STAR WARS!!! I will most likely be i line at midnight for that one.

Some of these I just haven’t missed their series in the theater so going to keep streak going - like Marvel movies, Terminators, Mission Impossibles and Jurassics.

Thanks JWA. I think you missed your calling. You should be writing for EW

That’s a crapload of movies for one summer, somebody is going to take a bath.

LOL Thanks - I have often thought about starting a movie blog.

A remake of Point Break? Why has no one remade the greatest arm wrestling movie of all time, Over the Top? One of the great 80’s movies that does not get enough air play on cable TV.

clt needs a new vcr, amirite?

Looks like the Broken Lizard guys have raised the essential $2 million to start the filming of Super Troopers 2, can not wait for this movie to come out.

I saw that. Very happy!

Saw where there aiming at an early 2016 release. $2.5 millions raised in just the first 2 days of the Indiegogo fundraising, that’s crazy.

It opened this weekend but I saw “It Follows” which is a sundance film festival horror flick. I thought it was pretty slick, and did a really good job of building tension by camera angles and different shots. I’m not going to go into any of the plot of whatever in case others want to see it, but if you’re into fright flicks it’s a good one.

I have to agree with over the top. I wonder if the arm workout machine was added to semi trucks after that movie.
