Temple

We cannot have a letdown this weekend. This game is 10 times more important than the one we played last night. The Clemson win will lose all it’s luster if we don’t come out and play with the same effort as we did last night, and the 2nd half vs Maryland.

I’m sure the fans will be loud and stay loud, just to make sure there is no letdown in this team. From what I hear, the Clemson crowd was pathetic last night, and I’m sure we will put them to shame.

It’s hard to tell what kind of game we will have with Temple. I didn’t get to see the Duke game last night. Anyone see them, and what are your thoughts???

Saw the Temple Duke game, and Temple played decent. Duke overwhelmed them mutch of the first half, but Temple fought back within 8 or 6, before Duke took it.

Same SC on Temple:

Temple has big guards and athletic players all around. Christmas and Tyndale can light it up. They have a freshman big in Lavoy Allen who has made strides this year, and looks like a talented player for years to come. Sergio Olmos (didn’t he tear us up last year) isn’t a bad big, but I doubt he plays above 22 minutes. Michael Eric was declared inelgible for the year, so they are really limited to Olmos and Allen on the front line.

They are really limited inside, and here’s another chance for Big Phil to make his prescence known. Also, if we can get Allen or Olmos in foul trouble, that will be a huge advantage. I think offensively, their guards match up well against ours.

Lee is going to have a tough time with a 6-4 to 6-5 lengthy guard on him all night. Look for Temple to run with 4 guards A LOT in the game. BTW I really like the way Guzman plays.

My roommate watched his Dookies play Temple last night who ended up only beating them by 10 but it was at the Wachovia Center. He said that Temple averages 16 turnovers a game and don’t move toward the passes. Therefore our defense should create some problems for them.

Duke also had no big men last night because Zoubek and Lance Thomas didn’t play, so I think we have some size that will give them trouble too. That Christmas kid for Temple is no joke went on a 11-0 scoring run all on his own to get the game close again…at one point they were within 5…then Duke handled business.

We need to show up on Saturday…

That’s the main thing I noticed - they forced a lot of bad shots (reminded me of a team I’ve seen a few times…) and turned the ball over a lot, especially in the first half.
I think in the 2nd half they settled down a bit.

They do look athletic and they played most of the game against Duke in man-to-man I think.
It will not be an easy game and could be an ugly 55-50 type of contest.

I hope we beat the last of Chaney’s thug recruits.

Temple SOS is #7 right now. They are 6-7 but 40 points higher in RPI

we do NOT matchup well against them and their huge guards…just like maryland…

They will beat us if they play like they did most of the second half agaisnt Duke. They’re a good team, they always play an absurd schedule and come into A10 play ready to play with anybody, it’ll be a big win if we can get it.

I remember Chris Sager had his best game during that ice storm late 02. Ian Anderson could pull it off. Does the new coach never come out of the zone like Chaney never did?

Ian Andersen is injured and will be out for a week with a twisted ankle.

According to Lutz last night, he will be out for a week and a review today could have him out longer.

Somebody shut down Christmas!

man, that sounds weird.

who is going to be our grinch?

Just wanna echo the huge guard problem. I’m very worried about it, because Lee & Harrris are going to be overmatched, and now we’re without Ian, our only decent sized guard. This is one that I wish we could suit up Barnett for.

BTW, NCAA 2K8 agrees with the matchup problems. I ran a sim that I watched and those guys abused us and beat us by 7.

Play Dewberry at the 2 for a bit? See how that goes?

ehh… Im reaching.

Dewberry will ave to be at the 2 tomorrow behind Lee. I think that will make it easier for Lutz to find more PT for him

I think Dewberry and Wilderness on a guard for stretches will suffice. Hopefully Lee wants some revenge for the game last year and will play a few more minutes than normal. Because of size problems, maybe we can go to a 3-2 zone to lock down outside shooters and still conserve some energy.

Somebody shut down Christmas!

Tyndale, too.

Lutz said yesterday that he keeps whispering in practice “37…37…37” - the # of points he scored against us last year.

Y’know…that might be a good chant tomorrow. For every time Charlotte’s defense stops Tyndale.

I watched the Duke game and wasn’t really impressed with them at all. Sure Xmas had his 11-0 run but nobody hasn’t pointed out that was over the course of 8 mins. It’s not like he or Temple got hot quick and cut into the lead over 2 or 3 mins. This isn’t a shot at Temple, but the run was partly aided by Duke not having two big guys who typically get good minutes and them just wearing down. If anything I think its a bad sign that Temple was down 19 and over the course of 8 mins Duke doesn’t score and they only cut it to 8. Never was closer then that as they pulled away from Temple after getting a second wind.

They still lost by 10 (don’t let the score fool you), to an undermanned Duke team, away from home, neutral or not, it was still in Philly.

There guard size could be problematic, but we have some guys who are of good size and quick enough to give them problems (Dewhurst and Wilderness).
