The Dallas Cowboys
The refs were absolutely, positively horrible. But, let’s think about some things:

 1. the first posession. First and 10 on the 11 and we can’t punch it in, and we have to settle for a FG. We score a TD there, that TD at the end merely ties the game.
 2. we let Julius F—ing Jones run all over us, when he’s been a high school-caliber running back all season.
 3. Keyshawn is terrible, and we let him catch the ball underneath the whole damn game.

I hate the Cowboys with a passion, and I’m pissed at the refs, but if we take care of the three things listed above, the refs don’t matter.
I agree, but one of those things can be directly tied back to refs…they held the entire game and rarely(maybe once) were called for it. opened up the rushing game…still should’nt have been as good as it was.

plus people always look at these things short sighted, that one critical play that absolutely changed outcome…in this case the blocked FG that was turned into a roughing the kicker. The Plav miracle at Indiana last season is another example

on positive note, Peppers had a hell of a game

after all the fussing that will ensue over refs, and fact Vick can’t make playoffs…refs/nfl may hook us up next week…of course us winning keeps dallas out and its pretty obvious they want dallas in playoffs.

in this case the blocked FG that was turned into a roughing the kicker.

It wasn’t roughing the kicker, it was running into the kicker.
It wasn’t roughing the kicker, it was running into the kicker.
To-ma-to, to-mah-to. Either way, it was a first down.

Agreed, that definitely was NOT running into the kicker. Horrible call. But that’s part of the beauty of sports.

I agree that it was a horrible call. We were cheated out of that one.

How was running into the kicker a horrible call? He was clearly planted where he kicked it, didn’t move, and they ran right into him.

Now if you’re claiming he touched the kick, thereby wiping out that call, that is another issue. I didn’t see a conclusive touch, even with TiVo’s help, and the ball was still going end over end after it goes by Lucas, so it would have had to have been one of the slightest touches ever. It was pretty apparant that it was not a CLEAR touch, and if they didn’t see it in live-action, they were going to need something to overturn it on replay that was conclusive. Everyone in Carolina says they did, everyone in Dallas says they didn’t.

It was close, but definitely not conclusive. Too bad no print photographers have a photo of him touching the ball. The Fox TV angles were just not condusive to overturning it.

The bottom line is that the Panthers were supposedly a Super Bowl caliber team, and didn’t get the job done. They need to admit their own failings instead of coming up with excuses. I’m surprised someone like John Fox is allowing his team to speak out as much as they are re: the assignment of blame everywhere but where it should lay (themselves).

They rushed for 71 yards against a team that came into the game giving up 150 per over the past few weeks. They got beat on a pass into the endzone with the game on the line. Steve Smith had just one catch for what?, 13 yards before being ejected?

And, Steve Smith lost his cool (yes, he deserved to get tossed, because everyone knows you don’t touch them no matter what. no, it doesn’t matter that Dallas had late-hit him, that is something you take up with the referee not the side judge).

Whine, whine, whine… Damn you would think you’ve heard enough whining until Panthers’ fans have something else to whine about. Fact is Julius had 194 yds rushing and the Panthers couldn’t stop him.

Heres a few of my favorite whines from Panthers fans:

 1. If Jenkins wouldn’t of got hurt we would be winning the NFC - Fact is the Panthers have been good agianst the run this year. Cadillac, Julius, and Ronnie Brown are the only backs to rush for over 100 on them all year.

 2. Our offense would be 10 times better under Chris Wienke- How about we check up on Wienke. Last time I checked he lead the Panthers to the worst losing streak in NFL history. Oh Preason huh? Yea Wienke has been good in preseason, but do you think teams study film day and night for preseason games? Do you think Wienke is playing 1st strings? Give me a break, Chris Wienke is nothing but a backup. Delhomme is not the best qb in the world, but he better than Wienke.

 3. We Need a New Defensive Coordinator!! (Bring back Del Rio)- I tell you, if Jack Del Rio was fired as the Jags coach today, people would be wanting to fire John Fox and hire him. Fact is that Tragovac had a top 5 D (i believe every year he’s been Defensive coordinator here) and this year he did have (before this game) the #3 defense in the league. So its not the Defensive Coordinator.

 4. The Panthers need to pass it more!!- This might be true to an extent, but the fact is that running the ball is the only way the Panthers will win. The Panthers offense feeds off the runs with Play Actions and quick routes. The only way they are going to prevent delhomme from throwing 5 ints a game is running the ball, because Delhomme is a below average QB that benefits from the run. Oh and wow he made his 1st pro bowl this year. He shouldn’t have made it in the 1st place and there is only one truly good QB in the NFC and that is Hasselback. Brunell and Bledsoe are decent, but they aren’t great. Delhomme just benefits from teams stacking the line and him having one of the best receivers in the NFL.

That’s just a couple, I’m sure if you begged me that I could think hard and ponder up some more.

Oh yea just a reminder to you Panthers fans, If the Panthers lose to a capable ATL team at ATL and the Cowboys win against a sorry STL team at DAL, and the Deadskins win against a sucky Philly team then Panthers can watch the playoffs at home again this year. :lmao:

I was suprised the Cowboys offensive line did so well. Recently, Bledsoe has been a tackling dummy for D lines. That was a fun game to watch, even though the bad guys won. truth is, neither team is a championship callabre team. I will be shocked if the NFC crown doesn’t go to SEA, NYG, or WAS.

Yeah, I said Washington, but only because they are so hot right now. I don’t think they lose much with Ramsey at QB. Chicago has an outside shot because of a homefield divisional game. With that offense, however, I don’t see them hanging with Seattle. I’m not convinced Grossman is better than Orton.

The Panthers need more offensive players, a much better runing game, a less conservative O-coordinator, and more blitzing.

The refs were right not to overturn the touched ball. The evidence was inconclusive.

Factoid, fools! Bill Parcells has a losing career record without Bill Bellicheck as one of his assistants.

If your entire game or entire season comes down to one play, then something is wrong. Want to avoid running into kickers? Don’t let running backs run for 190 yards against you.

Well…let’s hope the Panthers win next week in Atlanta then…then it will end this discussion…

I like the Boys, but I like the Panthers too. I was torn. I was glad to see Dallas win, but sad to see Carolina lose. If Carolina had to lose, I hate that it came down to an official deciding to screw them over, & his buddy in the booth continue the screwing.

cowboy fans = tarheel fans
Agreed, that definitely was NOT running into the kicker. Horrible call. But that’s part of the beauty of sports.
How was that not running into the kicker? It clearly was. The kicker is allowed that space to finish his follow through and landing and the defense knows it. That is why you don’t ruch a kicker straight up the middle.

Blaming refs for a loss is lame.

This statement is what’s wrong with America. It’s always someone elses fault, nobody is ever accountable for their own actions.

How about not being in a position where you need to block a FG to beat a bad team on your home field? Wouldn’t that make more sense?

The Boys aren’t a bad team, & I don’t like the Heels.

PI, you can tackle the kicker when he is in the air as long as you touch the ball. It appeared to me that the balls motion was altered after it passed Peppers. Bad call. It happens. We just have to beat Hotlanta and all will be right in the world.

I understand the rule if the ball is tipped, however without conclusive evidence that the ball was tipped, it is clearly running into the kicker.

The ball’s trajectory changed at the same place where Peppers side was. While you couldn’t conclusively see him touch the ball, you could conclusively see the ball change direction. Anyone w/ a rudimentary understanding of Physics could be able to tell conclusively that someone must have touched it, therefore, no penalty.

Doesn’t really matter now…they’re sitting at home…
