Iāve already decided the football movement is dead.
I hate to hear this coming from you.
I think now is the time we have to make another push. We made a push when they had the student vote and that was successful. It is time for another push. The football website has been updated. What more can we do??
We need to organize one final push. CHP is not making his announcement until September. I say we organize something on campus when the students get back. Maybe a march around campus or something. I donāt knowā¦
I've already decided the football movement is dead. A few of CHP's highest subordinates are against the idea and he has done nothing to prove to me that he is even straddling the fence, regardless of what he sometimes says.
Football or not, a change in leadership is due now.
Dunn
football is not DOA, only because Dubois doesnāt have the stones to tell Mac Everett to go pound rock salt.
This is NOT about raising money for football. I'm talking about raising money for anything at the school.
The topic was dealing with football.
Again, if you think our school is raising as much money as it can, because our name is holding it back, your crazy (and I am strongly in favor of a name-change)!
I never said that. I applaud the straw man though.
BY the way, I work hard at promoting our school as well and I DON'T get paid for it!!!
And I care because
But clearly youāre not working hard enough since we donāt have football yet.
I think this is a great response to get back. Frankly Iām shocked he checks his own email.
That being said I think we should be careful about contacting big money guys like Mr. Niblock one off as people not associated directly with the school. In the end it could hurt more than it helps. Letās let the people who work for the school do the contacts on their end.
Just my opinion.
The people that āworkā for the school are the reason we are in this situation.
Itās important to distinguish who does what. CHP and the trustees make the decisions, but we have people who work for the school that do the fund raising that are good people and do a very good job.
If we get the go, I have no doubt they can do the leg work to get the dollars.
We have a little over 1,000,000 million in our foundation. Pull up the list of all other schools and see how we rank. Then tell me if ātheyā are doing a good job.
Nothing they can do about alumni who donāt give a crap.
Best gauge of how they do is the look at the results of the annual giving campaign to fund the sports. Theyāve done very well with that in the past. Iām betting this year wonāt be any different.
Bull you can do a lot of things they are creative enough to try.

Anyone know when the first day of classes is??
Just my personal opinion. Iāll be the first one screaming at the Alumni House in September if I am incorrect. However, this is my gut feeling right now and at best the BOT will not make a decision then and prolong the waiting.
Classes begin August 15.

I donāt know his opinion on it metro, but I was speaking of others with fancy titles.
Obviously you missed my point. There is nothing for the school to fund raise forā¦yet. They have to gauge support from these corporations, which I would guess is happening as part of the exploration. But the school isnāt going to commit itās full fundraising resources to raise funds for a sport it doesnāt even have yet. They have to focus on funding our exisiting programs.
I would disagree. The people that fund raise for the athletic foundation do a very good job getting funds in to support our existing sports. They work very hard.
Perhaps because thereās nothing for him to give to?
Grassroots support is what got this whole thing to point it is today. A decision is coming now, one way or the other.
But personally I would prefer if you and others wouldnāt bash the hard working people we have fund raising for us now for our existing sports. You have no clue how hard they work to get money for sports. If you did, you wouldnāt disrespect them.
I gave $2500 to the alumni house and did not get a thank you note and have NEVER been invited to a function at the place. Donāt tell me how this university reaches out to alumni.
Silvio, the circulation of the quarterly UNC Charlotte magazine was cut from 75,000 copies down to 10,000.
Thatās pathetic, small-picture thinking at work. It guarantees that alumni involvement will diminish, not increase.
I wondered why the Alumni Notes section has been shrinking dramatically the last couple issues. I guess itās because so few alumni even know about it.
We made a push when they had the student vote and that was successful. It is time for another push.
The only problem is that the anti-footballers are insinuating that vote doesn't really count as part of the "no student fee hike" argument. Phil has alluded to the vote not counting. So has Mike P on this board. So has some of the numerous mysterious anti-football articles in the Observer.
And before anyone jumps at the Alumni Office for the circulation decline, the magazine is a function of the Development Office, the Alumni Office is a contributor to the magazine. :unhappy:

I sometimes wonder about goals of our administration. My guess is there's a good chance CHP's opinion was to cut back on this expenditure, and that really bothers me.

Goals? Strive to be a better stepchild. Itās simple⦠mediocrity > success.
I never said that. I applaud the straw man though.

hahahaā¦I have obviously struck a nerve with you. So, you donāt care if alumni/fans are promoting the school, huh? Wow, you really are a GREAT fan of this school, arenāt you!!!..Let me know when you want to meet at the ATM!!!
:lmao:
When I graduated I bought season tickets, joined the 49er club and haven't missed a mailer since. That was 1999.
The people who work for the foundation work hard. Until you make the effort to meet them and understand that, you ought to save your venom for people who arenāt die hard 49ers like these folks are.
When I graduated last year I waited and waited for my information for giving to come, and I had signed up as an alumnus. Nothing ever came. So I joined the 49er Club and called for season tickets and did all the dirty work to do everything I expected someone to be calling me, an alumnus, to do. Not once since May of '07 have I had a phone call from an athletic office or academic office to donate. Iāve only received something to re-new my tickets. In the last year Iāve been married and had a kid and probably would not have been able to give and will likely not be able to get tickets for this year, but Iāve never been called, had messages, emails, or letters asking me to give other than to re-new my tickets. Obviously, I havenāt given as much or for as long as you, but for some people they may never be able to if theyāre not contacted.
I had a conversation with Dunn a few months before the ball really got rolling with the football initiative and he agreed that we had a need for football.
