Good to know, Iāll check with my provider. Iām not in Charlotte or with Duke anymore but Iāll see if they offer any options. Thanks!
Hopefully they have a time of use rate. New this year for Duke.
Peak rate is $.1623 for kWh, off-peak is $.0743 and discount is $.0511. During the summer, the discount period is 1am to 6am so I am getting a nice break when I charge at night vs. daytime or at the flat rate.
The difference for a full charge for me would be $12.38 charges at peak rate vs $5.75. Not sure what dukes blended rate is these days, but Iām assuming $.12-13/kwh, so probably $10ish to charge with their standard blended rate plan.
I donāt remember my flat rate but their calculator recommended this plan based on my usage before I even had the car, so I know it will be more cost effective for me to charge overnight at the discounted rate.
My Bolt had an unidentifiable battery problem last week. It was from the early batch of bolts that had the battery recall before they changed their battery pack style. I had 21000 miles on it.
Chevy shipped the battery in and replaced it within 10 days. Obviously not an ideal situation, but I was impressed with how quickly Chevy took care of the problem.

Tesla fanboy here. I want a Rivian R3X soooo bad. That car looks like itād be so much fun to rip around on dirt roads with. My wife is dead set on an R1S for her next vehicle. (Currently we have a Tesla model 3 and VW ID.4). Rivian is absolutely knocking it out of the park with design.
That is the first EV I could see myself buying. IM digging it. Needs a spare hanging off the back though.
I dig the GTI look of the R3, but Iām old and want something more practical, so I may end up looking at an R2, with roof racks, of course.

If they actually hit even close to the 45k price they are targeting for these things, theyāre going to sell pretty darn well, I believe.
I still think most people are better off with hybrids, but these Rivians are tempting.
R3 for me. I love the look of that thing.
Iād seriously consider the R3, if it was hybrid.
I hate their headlights. Not sure what they look like on the newly announced vehicles but on the two on the market now, it ruins the whole car for me. Butterface in car form.
Had to drive a Mach E as a rental all week in Orlando. Fine car. It was typical EV fast, but the giant display is obnoxious and the electric locks and electric door opening and lack of door handle got on my nerves. Had a nearly 300 mile range, drove it all week and didnt need a charge so that was good.
Over all - no thanks. Was boring to drive and the display got on my nerves.
