I was looking at potentially getting a hybrid maverick in a year or two. The $50 refundable reservation fee was easy on the pocket. I’m intrigued by this. I’ve been saying for a while someone needed to do a small pickup EV. Im in line for now at least.
That would sell like hotcakes if it was ICE.

Think something like this could really take off based on how modifiable it is.
BEV still a tough sell, but can see it working despite that.
clt isn’t watching a tick tock review. it is sad that this is our new reality

https://www.autoblog.com/news/2026-nissan-leaf-crossover-reveal
The all-new Leaf gets a 75 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack that can charge at up to 150 kW. On a Level 3 charger, Nissan claims a 10-80% charge would take 35 minutes. Best of all, you get the luxury of choice, as the new Leaf comes with both the commonplace J1772 charging port (on the driver’s side) and a Tesla Supercharger-compatible NACS charging port (on the passenger side). This is also the first Nissan with a Plug & Charge function, so you don’t need to swipe a card or open an app to start refilling the battery.
Two different charging ports and plug & charge = quality of life improvements along with doubling the horsepower and significant range extension.
If it actually goes on sale at that price (around $30k) and maintains the tax credit til that is killed, it may actually be a good 2nd car / grocery getter. It’s all a lot of people need for taking the kids to school, soccer, etc.
I know there were some pretty incredible lease deals on the 2nd generation (payments in the lower $100 range) that made that car a pretty darn good buy for those purposes.
Saw an IONIQ 9 today when I took my car in for routine service.
I didn’t like the rendering when they released it, but not bad looking in real life. Design isn’t as good as the ioniq 5, but it’s definitely way better than the horribly ugly ioniq 6.
Good to see expansion, despite the rollback of the EV tax incentive. The new Buc-ee’s in Mebane will have charging stalls and as BP and others integrate charging into their new (and current) stations, it will get even easier and more commonplace for charging to be at or near amenities.
clt says more chargers and less demand sounds like a great time to own a EV
