Thursday Observer
“We’ve turned it up in practice. We’ve always believed in ourselves but we had a lot of tough, close losses. Despite that we refused to get down on ourselves,” said Mack, who finished with a season-high 19 points, leading four Charlotte players in double figures.

“Everybody believes in each other as a team and as a family. It's one reason in every huddle we say, ‘1-2-3, Family.' We knew we would turn this thing around. It is by no means too late.”

This is why I love Niner basketball.

Another quality quote (from Utter):
Charlotte athletics director Judy Rose made the trip to the game and said she took the opportunity to do a “fact finding” tour of Mississippi State’s football stadium and other athletic facilities.
Another quality quote (from Utter):

hell yea

Another quality quote (from Utter):
ummm, Miss St is a wee bit out of our league in terms of facilities. Her comment doesn't make alot of sense. I suspect she felt like the lone charter she paid for, she wanted to ride too.

Why do you think Jim was there? Free ride, all aboard. There’s no way the Observer would send him, these days.

Nice front page sports location with game photo, as well.

On postgame, Lutz said he has simplified things defensively, still changing defenses but not trying to do as many things. It paid off versus SIU and MSU.

Offense sounded more patient based on the article.

I have been pleading this forever. Its OK to be simple.

If Lutz can maintain this, I’ll be really impressed at his ability to turn it around.

I’m glad the team is sticking together, most of all, though.

Don’t think for a minute we won’t have our usual brain fart even if we do fully turn it around.

I know, slightly dreading that Youngstown St. game.

Maybe we just got a really huge donation…

I understand what you are saying, but what does it hurt to see how an SEC program does things. They’re not technically a powerhouse in their conference, but it doesn’t hurt to look. Maybe she was looking b/c they gave us a game guarantee for our first year.

I wish

Exactly. The best defensive teams do one or two things and do it very well.

Ask Knight or K or Huggins or etc- the toughest D guys and they pretty much just man up.

BTW, what’s up with the Lutz quote about the “sorrow song”? Great couple of wins, but what the hell are supposed to do? Be happy about losing to friggin App, ODU and CSF???

sounds like code for “the avg fan doesn’t know how good those teams are…”

Metro, you got that right. Is he taking shots at the fan base again? Geez.

That’s the way it struck me. As the old saying goes, “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”

Oh, and on your way out, leave the $400,000 per year behind.

Ahh you guys … He meant giving a littany of excuses of why you don’t win. It was a criticism of what coaches like himself do many times.

Well, you did the article and took the quote so I’ll take your word for it. But it sure doesn’t read that way to a long-time supporter of this program.
