Itās about time. It has been long overdue. Should be pretty sweet when it is all finished. I do appreciate the $ for the renovations. Thanks Judy! Should help with recruiting too.
SS Mike Ambrose was POW and 3B Aaron Bray was ROW for the second week in a row. There will be lots of Niners winning those awards this year.

It is nice to finally see the money going to baseball, but the fact still remains that Judy does not support the program like a AD should.
What do you think we needed more? A practice gym for basketball or baseball field rennovations?
But I bet you when Carolina comes to Tom and Lib Phillips field that Judy will be there supporting her green jacket with the news cameras rolling.

News flash: Basketball makes the school money and no one gives a F@ck about baseball.

No crap. That is the problem with this minor league run athletic department. They care about one sport, but have no clue how to market it to the Charlotte area.
Everybody wants this school to be āBig Timeā, but that is not going to happen at this school for a long time for several reasons:
And you are crazy if you think the basketball team made money this year with that crappy attendence.
Maybe if they tried treating people who attend the games like guests, instead of pieces of meat, they would get better attendance. Iāve had 3 run-ins with the folks that run Halton,if they were in the ārealā business world, theyād be bankrupt!!
3. The athletic department canāt make sound decisions because everyone on the staff is married to each other
Or cheaper by the pair!
Long live nepotism!
How can you evaluate performance when your spouse is sitting at the same table.
Yay! My first post!
On Baseball: I would love to support our athletics more but I really donāt care about baseball. The only time I watch baseball is the world series and only one or two games if that. And many people I know feel this way about Baseball. So I think that is one major reason baseball gets bad support. But hearing that I can get drunk at the game may change my attendance habits. Would be nice to chill outsibe with a couple of brews and buds.
On Football: I want a football team as much as the next guy. I spent my entire freshman year trying to help get us a team and talked a lot with one of the heads of the alumni foundation. As some of you have said, Title IX is a big problem. We dont have the money for a team let alone all the girl scholarships for meeting Title IX requirements. Football does lose money which does not help us at all since we are trying to grow at such a rapid rate. Our fan support does suck and if we had a football team, only us diehard niner fans would go and I dont think we would be very successful. The 6th man in basketball and the 12th man in football are very important. We barely can get enough people to be loud in a Halton arena which only holds 9000+. How are we going to fill a football stadium with fans with a fan base such as this. In addition, I doubt we would want a D-1AA program or whatever its called and for regular D1, the NCAA requires a stadium that can hold like 30,000 or 60,000 or some huge number like that (this is one reason that Memorial Stadium downtown would not suffice for a temporary field for our football team.) and we would never be able to fill it even half way I think if we have support like we have for basketball.
IMHO, we have to wait. We have to get more students to be rabid about Niner basketball and other sports. Once we are one of the best of basketball, students will want us to be the best at everything. The biggest college sports are BBall and FBall and if we are crazy about basketball, we will be crazy about our football. Then we will fill our stadium and have the fan support necissary for a successful football program. This will only happen with time and patience.
Good 1st post 49or, welcome to the boards.
P.S. - In the off-season be prepared to read this same football discussion about 30xās.

Donāt worry where my money goes.
49orbust- Welcome to the board.
I think USF getting football speaks against all of the points you just made.
Title IX makes it too tough. Try again.Somehow they managed to work around Title IX.
Think they filled the Sun Dome in basketball? Try again.
Are they the best in basketball or even good? Try again.
Does their football team lose money? Try again. They turned a profit this year and broke even last year.
And the last try again point, they are in the Big East. Why? Because of football.
Back to the 1st post, letās take notes from USF. Contrary to what Judy may say football will only propel our athletics and the Univ. as a whole forward. Hereās an elementary lesson: Football is the most popular sport in this country. Get it. It seems like USF managed to do what Charlotte folks label āthe impossibleā. Note to Dubois: USF started off 1AA to get established.
