TV Binging Thread šŸ“ŗ

Been watching The Shrink Next Door, it’s different but I’ve enjoyed it. Not for everyone but worth giving a couple of episodes to if you’re looking for something.

In other Apple+ reviews, tapped out on Invasion after 3 episodes.

The Expanse season 6 is now dropping each Friday

Does the Expanse get better?

I need something to watch now that the WoT show has been revealed to be such a steaming pile of sociopolitical fanfiction that has nothing to do with the books.

I tried with the expanse but I lost interest around season 2 or 3… It’s been so long that I have forgotten when I checked out.

Foundation and invasion and Hawkeye and pretty much everything else lately have been duds…

At least the Dune movie was good. But part 2 is gonna be a whiiiiiile.

If you didn’t like 2 and 3, you can probably stop there. Most people either love the Expanse or are ā€œmehā€ about it. Thanks for trying it

Love the expanse. The season spent on the planet was kinda meh but the rest has been really enjoyable - you beltalowda

Much to my dismay, I pretty much agree with this review. What an enormous let down. The trailer made this episode look SOOOOO much cooler than it turned out to be. In a very odd twist of expectations, TBOBF is a pretender to the quality of The Mandalorian, in almost every aspect of this first episode. Here is hoping it does the unthinkable and gets much better, fast.

I want to make special mention of some of the worst acting I have ever seen in Star Wars… And that’s really saying something… The guy playing the Twilek Mayor’s envoy (Twileks are those humanoids with the long things that grow out of their heads and hang to the ground) was the most poorly acted character I have ever seen in any ā€œseriousā€ Star Wars IP. His entire time on the screen, both his appearance and his performance, felt like an intentionally bad SNL skit. Good lord it was terrible. It took you completely out of any immersion in the story. Someone should have been fired for letting that make it to screen…and that wasn’t the only other cringe moment in the episode, as that review very clearly lays out.

I am bummed with streaming TV lately. None of it has been very good. I dunno if it’s trying to film during Covid, or turning good IP’s over to hack showrunners / directors, everything I have seen lately pretty much sucks balls. I think maybe there is a safe harbor in less fantastical shows, so I think I may try Yellowstone and / or Succession. Or maybe not even that - I didn’t think season 2 of Ted Lasso was all that great. It felt forced way too often.

And my heart really does lie in the more escapist stuff, and all of that has been utterly awful this year. Such a bummer.

If episode 2 of TBOBF is as awful as episode 1 was, I may have to rewatch Mando just to cleanse the palate.

Haven’t seen Boba yet. I have binged the first 7 episodes of Station Eleven on HBO though. I like it, but I also read the book and liked it as well.

Agree with NA I do

How good is this show?

Never watched it.

One of the best! It is my most underrated show of all time. It’s my go to as a recommendation to someone that I know most likely they’ve never heard of.

I really like Cillian Murphy. Dunno why I havent tried it.

Subtitles are a must watching it if you want to catch all the dialog.

It is fantastic on many levels. Good period piece with great characters.

This. I gave it a try and couldn’t get past the strong accents.

I felt like Book of Boba Fett #2 was … Decent.

Still not up to Mando standards.

Second episode was better.

Finished S4 of Cobra Kai and it keeps getting better. This show is no Citizen Kane but it was my favorite season. Going back to what you were discussing earlier, I wish this was how all writers respected original works. There were so many nuggets in there for old school fans. If you compare it to Cowboy Bebop and how the writers tried to ā€œfixā€ it you can see why one is a surprise hit and the other cancelled after one season.

Yellowstone hands down. Just finished season 4.
If you don’t agree I will send both Rip and Beth to change your mind.
