TV Binging Thread šŸ“ŗ

No, not yet. If I ever get AppleTV I’ll check it out.

Good to know. I definitely realize it’s not just a you thing. Lol. Sometimes a show just doesn’t hit me, even though it’s rated highly. Breaking Bad and Stranger Things come to mind. Landman’s close to falling in that category too. But I want to give Slow Horses another shot.

Is Landman season 2 a big dropoff? I haven’t started it yet.

Just finished The Abandons on Netflix. 7 out of 10. Too much Gillian Anderson whispering voice.

Looks like the God of War show is happening. Never played the game but I have friends that were big fans.

They’ve found their Kratos - though I still see Gerry Bertier from Remember the Titans.

First episode was very well done.

If you don’t know the story, and especially if you were a Game of Thrones fan, this one is going to seem very very slow to you. It’s all introductions and setup. The basic story for the whole season is actually very simple too, though there are several instances of very classic GRRM nuance to it.

FWIW, I like many of the changes from the book. They’re mostly small but impactful. Really liked the slight dialogue tweaks, and the re-ordering of some events. The biggest change is the much deeper interaction with Lyonel Baratheon. But I think that makes perfect sense, without spoiling anything.

What really had me excited was the season preview at the end of the episode. This should get good very quickly. My only complaint here is splitting the series into 6 very short episodes and taking 6 weeks to tell it all. This could very easily have fit into two back to back weekend episodes of about 1.5 hours each, and I think the story might have been better for it.

Still… It’s Dunk & Egg. I’m happy.

This was one of the biggest changes from the book. I wasn’t sure at first but I think I like it.

Badly want to post one of many spoilers…

Will make this a link so you have to click it to see it:

Spoiler (callback to GoT)

I had no idea this dropped, but The Night Manager season two, after 9 years, has been released. It’s on Prime and highly recommend. Probably best to watch season one first.

A 9 year gap between seasons?

Wow.

Yep, the original was released in 2016, so maybe 10 years? Definitely worth the watch, imo. There is apparently also going to be a season 3. No idea if it’ll take 9 years to complete that one.

The original was very good.

What was Arrested Development, around 7?

FWIW, I don’t think it’s THAT good, but it’s solid, and I expect the next few episodes to get better.

Watching the main character have diarrhea 5 minutes into the first episode was unexpected.

Curious of any opinions on Pluribus? I haven’t watched any of it, but it’s on my list.

That was I think them trying to set a tone that it isn’t as serious as the other shows. Or, maybe it was a cheap shot at Ryan Condal - the guy running House to the Dragon. He and GRRM had a falling out - they don’t get along anymore.

I could have done without it. But the rest of the episode was good.

I watched the first few episodes then lost interest. I dont like the shows that start with a really urgent / striking premise and then bog down into a slow crawl.

It’s pretty popular though. I wouldn’t rely on my opinion.
