Iâm pretty sure he used to be a tarhole fan⌠until they would not let him back into the stadium after he left to chase down a foul ball. I recall being at a game down there and something like that happening.
Now he classifies them as âa bunch of communistsâ.
:)
I can verify that.Back when I was still speaking to him, I tried for two years or so to convince him of the error of his ways, then they finally pissed him off one time too many. BTW, their fans hate him.
âwho, believe it or not, is a retired educator who spent 38 years in the Charlotte, North Carolina, public school system, teaching for 20 years and serving as an assistant principal for 18.â
I heard he was a retired high school principal. Can anyone confirm if that is true? If so, that must have been one messed up high school.
Except it was asst. principal and it was elementary school, which is more in line with his intelligence level.
In his defense of calling CH a bunch of communists, Sen. Helms did advocate putting up a fence to keep the Commies in CH in, so they couldnât get out to the rest of the state. :))
That is correct SCK. But the Uh-Huh guy did not heed that warning. He had to wait until they made him buy another ticket to get into their baseball stadium. Thatâs when he saw the light.
I wonder what he would do if he was prohibited him from bringing signs to sporting events. Would he still show up?
Nah, but heâd pout and say it was a plot against him personally.
Wow itâs been since 2015 since Uh-Huh guy has been mentioned. Iâll preface this with the following:
I went to charlotte 2004-2009. I remember Uh Huh guy at the games and the mostly negative thoughts about him which I have shared myself. This is a story about not judging a book by its cover.
My family and I are down at Surf City Beach for the week for spring break. We were eating lunch yesterday at a local spot and I was wearing my Charlotte hat. An older gentleman approached us and asked us if we went to Charlotte. After talking for a bit he mentioned he used to go to the games and finally revealed he used to be the uh-huh sign guy.
He was such a pleasant guy and had fond memories of the games and our athletics program. He lives down here now and was very gracious to my kids and wife. Overall just a pleasant experience meeting him. A reminder that people are complex and until you meet someone donât judge. I for one had my mind changed today on UH-HUH.
Iâm glad he retired that schtick. And competing for foul balls over and over with younger kids may be questionable. Good for him enjoying life though.
Yelling âdid yâall come to play?!! Uh huhâ was much more tolerable than âwhat it is, uh huhâ.
I had similar interactions with him over the years. I know most on here didnât like him, but I actually found him to be a very nice guy when you actually talked with him.
I didnât really care either way about him until he flashed the U sign in the salon at half time the game or so after Miami punked us in Halton. âHow about them Canes uh huhâ. Apparently he has a fam connection or something but to do that at that time GTFO.
He reminds me of a difforent era of sports, I always enjoyed him harrassing the pitchers of the away teams at baseball games. Nice guy in person as well.
Last time I saw Paul was when the 49ers played in the first game at the new Kannapolis ballpark in 2021. His wife was sick and he was caring for her at the time. She passed away and I heard that he had moved out to he beach to play golf after she passed. Glad to hear that he is doing well. He dropped all of his social media so it is hard to keep up with him.
Some donât like him but he was always nice to me and I enjoyed talking to him. He gave my kids foul balls all the time, whether it be in Kannapolis or at the Hayes.
âWe Aint waitin on these boys today!! Uh-Huh!!â
We used to ride to away games together and he used to send a Christmas card every year which stopped about 2-3 years ago. Probably because of his wifeâs passing and moving. But as a student I knew the Uh Huh guy and after graduating I got to know Paul the person. Paul was a great guy and always kind and made road trips enjoyable. He would quickly switch to Uh Huh mode at the stadium or arena though lol
Yes it does !
He moved there when he remarried
Played golf with him many times.
Really a good guy at heart, been thru alot.
Loved hearing Jesse Garber always telling him to stop running at the Hayes
