Their stupid vision is what allowed a non UNC system medical program in Charlotte.
You are correct.
Atrium would have done that same deal with UNC gladly Iām sure.
The fact our state university did not add another medical school in the system considering the massive population growth in the state is a dereliction of duty.
The university system is supposed to serve NC not the the other way around.
And Iām just gonna go ahead and assume that the Charlotte metro produces a big chunk of state revenue.

UNC Charlotte will gain a prestigious new status in 2025 when it officially becomes an āR1ā university. That designation is reserved for schools with the highest level of research investment and activity and currently applies to only 146 of the countryās nearly 4,000 universities.
-
Charlotte was one of two top 25 cities without an R1 school. (Portland)
-
Other R1s in NC are Duke, State, and CHeat.
The UNC BOG will figure out a way to usurp this and do something to put us āback in our placeā. Weāre gettinā too uppity!
Speaking of chancellors, see that Randy Woodson of NC State is retiring effective June 30, 2025.
Will be interesting to see their replacement since now the BOG has control vs their own BoT.
While the Poe Hall debacle may be pushing Woodson out earlier than expected, thereās no denying heās been one of the Wolfpackās biggest cheerleaders during his tenure at NCSU. Listened to him many a time during Wolfpack Radio pregame shows.
And seems the Poe Hall fiasco a cause for concern in UCity:
clt says that endowment increase is bigly
how much do we have now?
Today, we are welcoming another record class of first-time in college students, at over 4,600. Our new students are from 87 North Carolina counties, 45 states and 16 countries around the world. Weāre also welcoming our largest group of transfer students since 2021, at over 2,500.
Charlotte is a University on the rise ā in rankings, reach and impact ā and on a trajectory to become one of this nationās top public research universities.
clt says getting into Charlotte is not easy, welcome to the new niners!
If only this horde of students would show up in higher numbers at our athletic events.
Donāt think student turnout has been much of an issue lately
