Nice publicity for the school.
This has been the biggest news in my world in the past week. hope they take some engineering students, ahem.
And the got our name right.
An F1 team in Charlotte. That’s big time.F1 is the second most popular sport in the world.Only behind soccer.
I’m hoping this will give F1 more coverage in the US.Because racing in this country is crap.Indy Car killed itself.
Its been reduce to next to nothing and Nascar is unwatchable.

While I keep up with F1 because it’s unbelievable how fast those cars go and how they handle at those speeds, the racing itself is not that exciting after the starts. The “money teams” almost always win, even moreso than in the Cup Series, and the money that teams in F1 throw at cars make NASCAR spending look paltry. The disparity between the elite and also-rans is greater than the US-based series. F1 had a chance to really turn some heads in the US, and they absolutely blew it (pun intended) at Indy. With no race on US soil, F1 will never come close to getting the coverage of the main two series that do run here. I hope they come back some day, but I don’t see it happening in the next 5 years.
Now that IndyCar is one series again, I think it can return to its glory days of the lat 80’s-early 90’s. So long as they keep Tony George and AJ Foyt away from any of the important decisions, there is hope.
I’m European so I love Formula 1 and I REALLY hope this happens.
Holy crap this is really great for the school. This should be marketed all over the state.

Getting rid of the grooved tires would do a lot for the racing, IMO.

Getting rid of the grooved tires would do a lot for the racing, IMO.They are gone this this year.I'm happy about that.
Why do the drivers have to be Americans? How about the two best available drivers.Isn’t this country beyond that kind of thing.
Lets get some good drivers and try to be a force in F1 because Danica so want get it done.

Then this should get interesting.
I haven’t followed F1 very much since Schumacher retired.
However, a US team… if they’re competitive… can bring me back as a fan.

U know what they say about opinions.Thats the purpose of message boards is to express your opinions. In my eyes NASCAR is 100 percent crap.
Now is a good time to come back to F1.A lot of new rule changes should make this a very interesting year. And of course you always have Lewis Hamilton. The best thing to hit racing in several years.
McLaren?
I’ll pass.

A HUGE chunk of automotive fans in the US would argue with you about NASCAR being unwatchable. What NASCAR offers is a tight racing in a easy viewing arena. I personally like road racing, but have been to more than a few NASCAR races and there is something to be said for seeing the entire track and knowing that the racing will more than likely being going to the last few laps. It also helps that the drivers are very personable and the Frances know exactly how to market their product.
Indy and F1 and rally racing all offer a different experience and each are enjoyable. Don’t be a race snob and think your particular choice is really all that much better than another type.
Now if you want some racing that will blow your mind go see motorcycle racing in person. After watching bikes race no racing between cars is not quite as impressive. I am headed to Indy for the Moto GP race this year, but AMA and World Super Bike rock too. In the end though if it has a motor and there is a race involved chances are I will enjoy it!
