What games by Thorne and Henry. Clearly the two best players on the court.
I have to say, I love this under control T-Will. He is a different player now that he isn’t forcing things and launching long jumpers. He plays within himself, defends well, rebounds well and is just a rock solid player all around now.
How annoying was that VCU v GMU game beforehand! Iv’e never seen a team consistently foul down 10-12 points with a minute left. So frustrating,
Thorne, Henry, and Williams all played exceptionally well tonight. These types of performances night in and night out will win us a lot of games in CUSA this year.
The good:
We moved the ball well
Didn’t take a lot of bad shots
We played good D and let them shoot those horrible 3’s
The bad:
Got to adjust if the refs are going to call that many fouls a few on Henry and a few on Thorne were just dumb mistakes
Why can’t we close out games, we seem to get lazy or something, got to put our foot on their throat.
If we play this well Sat we will come home 2-0 which would be nice.
Thorne with 3+ dunks and dominating the paint. Like the passes Thorne made when he got the ball out of position.
Still wtf turnovers. Thorne running into Ingram on the inbounds, comical.
Game had me on edge the whole 2nd half. Playing zone will give some open 3s so everytime you just hold your breath.
Maybe because im tired or the announcers brain washed me but didn’t look like we played good really but a win is a win. Did play well in spurts. Refs sucked. Not a fan of their court design.

It’s always good to get a conference road win, no matter how ugly. I still hold my breath when Henry isn’t out there, our defense and decision making takes a hit.
It was great to see Thorne play well against other tall guys. Clayton really struggles to get his shot off against that kind of height though.
I wish Lester would remember he has the ability to drive the basketball. He had a stretch where he was playing like a Lutz gunner in the first half. Four threes taken in a row.
The good T Will seems to be showing up a lot lately. I’m hoping he’s turned the corner.
UTEP was one of the better teams in the conference before this gambling stuff happened, will be interesting to see if they can still be an upper level team in CUSA.
Good win on the road. Frohannon and Washburn had good games for them, but we managed. Thorne with 16-14, and played really well. Glad to upset some of the UTEP fans:
I have been the biggest critic of T-Will all year long, but I applaude his performance tonight. I think he finally may be discovering the true player he is, knocks on wood.
I love beating teams that are former National Champions too… whether that team is Syracuse, Indiana, NC State, Louisville, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Michigan, Marquette, LaSalle, University of San Francisco, or UT-Western-El-Paso.
(for those who do not know, UTEP won a National Championship in the 60s when they were still Texas Western)
Strong all around performance and a good road win. Charlotte is 10-4 for the first time since '09 and they are 4-0 this season when Thorne scores 16+ points. There were several plays where had got the ball deep in he lane and scored easily. Hopefully when future teams double, ours shooters are able to hit shots or drive and score.
Fell asleep before the game even started. Glad to see we pulled this one out. Also glad to see there isn’t a 20+ page post game thread talking about how we didn’t win good enough this time.
Henry has now made eight of his last 17 three-point attempts. Hope he can continue hitting as we get into conference play. If he and T-Will can just consistently take good shots and make them from long, we could be dangerous
