No **** them too.
oh ok…that’s good to know, I was almost ready to feel sorry for him.
I never really got into the memphis threads - Don’t get me wrong Cal is a dirtbag, but I always had much more hatred for Sincy and Huggins. I just want to commend missjtiger for coming back here with her tail between her legs knowing full and well what the response from us would be. Memphis fans can be quite delusional, but I am glad that at least some of you are coming to your senses.
Look, that’s cool. She nutted up.
But **** mempiss.

thanks, good to see some of you here aren’t so eatin’ up with hatred for Memphis…yeah, I’ve eaten my fair share of crow over the past few months…but now trying to move on. I’m excited about Coach Josh, and hoping he can keep the winning going. From all indications it looks like a few years of being patient and then we’ll be back, I hope. What are ya’ll expecting for this upcoming season? Since the split, I don’t hear much about ya’ll.
Yeah, truthfully they kinda got a pass.I know the FF was vacated, but what the hell does that really mean? We all know they were there whether it’s still on the books or not and with Fedex in their pocket, the money doesn’t mean that much.
They should have been docked a few schollies and banned for 2 yrs from post-season play. Maybe that would make some of these other programs think twice before hiring a rogue coach.
Agree. They still have the money and had the publicity from going that far.

This season has the potential to be great, but it is still just potential. I think most of us are waiting to see them play before we get to making any real predictions.
Unfortunately, beating up on Mempiss was good for press. Having Cal complain about us to the national press never hurt.

Good ole Cal the used car salesman… “The team that beat us took our bid!!!.. Pardon me while I twist the knife in a conference member’s back… now what was I saying?”
Unfortunately, beating up on Mempiss was good for press. Having Cal complain about us to the national press never hurt.Yep, it sure was........ and at the time we needed all the press we could get. We couldn't even get a pre-game article for those big games, especially the ones on TV.
Then people wondered why we had troube capturing fans in the Charlotte market.

Hey at least they have 2 Final 4’s. We only have 1. We really shouldn’t be talking smack. We never went 38-2. No one ever won 38 other than that team. If anything, we should be envious.
They have ONE legitimate final four. So do we.
They didn’t go 38-2. They went 0-40.
They went 38-2 by cheating.
I’m glad you’re not our AD and/or coach.

What did people at the time remember? 38-2.
What will people 40 years from now remember? 38-2.
0-40 is a temporary blip in the papers for a couple of days.
And they’ll have their memorabilia too, right?
The banner will come down, and the record won’t be in the books. So yes, people will forget the 38-2 record.
Reminds me of another gem from SCK. Link
But **** mempiss.
Yea, **** mempiss…
that felt pretty good. Therapeutic.
I know the Duke / Maggette situation came up the other day and questions why that season wasn’t vacated.
What is the NCAA doing about USC / Reggie Bush and that whole situation? When are those wins and titles being vacated like Memphis’?

I don’t know the entire USC situation, but none of the cases are the same and should be case by case basis. I do know the similarities and differences between Magette/Duke and Rose/Memphis, and I don’t think they should have the same result. I do think the NCAA needs to nail down how it punishes schools/players/teams, as now it is done on a whim it seems.

The bottom line is Memphis used an ineligible player as did Duke, why the different punishments?
I am not sure of Bush has officially been deemed ineligible from that situation, but if he was USC should receive the same treatment as Memphis received and Duke SHOULD have received.
I brought it up just as another example of the hypocripsy in the NCAA.

They used ineligible players unknowingly, or that’s what they hold to and there is no evidence that they did know. In Duke’s case Magette got two grand from a guy pushing him for an agency. Rose traveled from Chicago to Detroit just to take the SAT and magically finally passes. Also, his brother was given free travel and stayed with the team on trips which is a blatant violation of NCAA rules. So Memphis still had that over Duke’s instance. In the end they both apparently had no idea of the possible amateur status of their players. The difference was, Memphis continued to break those rules.

You are really going to defend duke or are they your ACC Team?

You obviously don’t retain information. For 18 years, they are the team I followed. I’m partial to them, yes, but at this moment I’m not defending them. I also know that you are a proud hater, and would likely buy anything negative said about them as the truth. I’m saying you can’t equate their possible violations to Memphis’.
Duke:
- Maggette takes $2k from a pusher for agents. Duke maintains they are unaware of this at the time they recruit and offer Maggette a scholarship.
- NCAA allows Maggette to play collegiately for Duke.
Memphis:
- Takes a questionable player (Rose) in who could not qualify academically b/c of poor SAT scores. Rose resides in Chicago, but the SAT that he passes he takes while in Detroit. Detroit is where Worldwide Wes lives, who has connections with Rose as well as with Calipari. Memphis maintains they are unaware of possible shady SAT scores while recruiting and offering Rose a scholarship.
- NCAA allows Rose to play collegiately for Memphis.
- Rose’s brother travels numerous times with team free of charge, staying with the team on travel, and taking team chartered flights.
Notice how even after the NCAA cleared the players Memphis continued to commit violations. As well, there violations are different, one being a compromise of amateur status for excepting payment, and the other an academic violation, and essentially fraud. It’s not the same case, therefore with punishment, it cannot be equivalent.
I’m not saying Memphis deserved entirely what they got (if it is true they were unaware of Rose [possibly] cheating on his SATs). There should be some level of punishment. To me there level of punishment is more indicative of the later violations, and the fact that Rose wasn’t the first player to be heavily scrutinized for questionable academic standing (Dozier).
I just do not think you can punish programs if they unknowingly except a player whose amateur status has been compromised. Obviously, that’s a huge issue to prove or disprove as evidence would be tough to come by.
In the end, the NCAA needs to get with the times. They enjoy just admitting “student-athletes” and then want to be retroactive in punishments b/c they didn’t do their due-diligence.
Where is MIssJTiger now?
Big game coming up in a couple weeks. Inquiring minds need to know!
They were the most insufferable online fanbase back in the CUSA 1.0 days.
