Watching the Illinois game and during the game Vitale just comes out and declares 3 underappreciated coaches and Lutz was one of them. I know most of you guys dislike Vitale cause well he is a homer and a huge DUKE and UNC fan but he gave Bobby some props!
Nice! Any attention Charlotte gets on national TV is good, but I’m sure someone here will still manage to complain!
I heard it A-10…nice props to us from Dickie V

But seriously, always good to get some pub, especially on a HUGE game like that, two of the hottest teams in the nation on ESPN, a LOT of people are watching, good job Dookie V!!!
Anybody ever heard Vitale say anything bad about a coach? He’s been asked that a couple of times, and he always says he was a bad coach.
Who were the other coaches? Or was it classic Vitale, “Here are three underrated coaches…” then he names five. Just like his ten member all American first team.
I remember back in 1988 when I though Dickie V knew a lot about hoops and was cool. Being 12 was so simple and fun…
Speaking of espn…as i’m watching the scroll at the bottom of the screen I see Marquette’s on tomorrow vs. louisville…than Depaul, and we’re on classic…Is it just me,or is Marquette on an awful lot?
No he doesnt know sh*t about basketball. . . thats why he is a hall of famer!
One of the other coaches was the Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan. Bobby Lutz was the 2nd name out of his mouth and I didnt pay attention to the 3rd coach said.
However, Dicky V broadcast partner…drawing a blank… but he is the one who said “hats off to Bobby Lutz and the job he is doing down there in Charlotte putting together a competitive team year after year in CUSA.”
Very refreshing to hear that!
In the pre Wade years, Marquette was .500 and still would average 13,000 a home game at the Bradley Center. They probably draw decent ratings and have that appeal that we don’t.
As for you, Buster Cherry, I don’t know why he is in the hall of fame. People who like listening to him call a game are the same people who think pro wrestling is real.
I think Vitale…and Billy Packer, for that matter, are the biggest hypocrites in the world…Last year Vitale was railing about high school kids goin pro,how its gonna ruin the great college game…and their stupid and all,he’s the biggest part of the college hype machine…he’s made a friggin fortune off the college game,he friggin hawks everything except hair replacements, and he doesn’t want his gravy train to end! He’s become a parody of himself…he kisses the $million a year big time coaches asses, while preaching the sanctity of the college game. He’s Lee Corso…without hair! OK now I feel better, beats an enema.
For all you Dickie V bashers here are a few things you might want to think about.
First, M9H you have never met ANYONE who knows more about college basketball than Dickie V. Second, there is no one more responsible for the meteoric rise in the popularity of college basketball than Dickie V. Before Dickie V, the final four didn’t even sell out, now it is one of the toughest tickets in all of sports. He is the most recognizable person in college basketball and has done more to draw in the casual fan than anyone before him or since. As annoying as he can be to listen to for a long period of time, there is no one with more passion for the game of college basketball and he does a tremendous job conveying that to the viewing public. He does praise Duke and Carolina and his favorite team is Duke. Last time I checked, they are 2 of the winningest team in the history of college basketball and hey have never been on probation and they graduate their players, so what’s not to like???
He does his best to bring coaches and players to the attenion of the casual fan that they might not be aware of and he thought enough of Bobby and our program that he wanted spread some props. I can’t see how anyone can complain about that…
Mcguire got them on probation in the early sixties…thats what brought in squueky clean Dean

I disagree. M9H knows more about college hoops than anyone I have ever met. It’s scary.
Also, Vitale says the same thing about Lutz and about 200 other coaches every year. At least he mentioned us during a broadcast. That is about all it is worth.
He’s given us & Bobby props before. That’s a great way to get good pub. It’s a much better way to get good pub than to sponsor the Fudge show. BTW, I think Wisconsin is also on ESPN this week. Hmmmmmm…
Speaking of announcers, does anyone know who will be announcing the Cinci game next weekend?

Rumeal Robinson's free throws in 89? Duke upsetting UNLV in 90? Very easy to do an office pool? All this might have also helped.
I won $20 off a Duke fan Sunday night at Picassos on a bet about Duke trivia.
I don’t have a problem with what Dick says.
Just his style. I have to mute him. It’s too much. I’m a very calm, relaxed person.

he picks unc to win the national title every year. plus i dont hate duke i just hate unc.
