Wake is over, Davidson next

I went to the Duke- Davidson game today. I would say 2/3 of the lower level were Davidson, and the majority of the upper level was Duke. The place was almost full with a few sections empty in 1 upper endzone.

I think if Curry is on we are in trouble. He’s a great player, but sometimes he tries to do too much. Duke doubled him up a few times and he did a good job finding the open man. I’d like to see Wilderness on him, but he’ll probably get his points anyway. The key is not letting the other guys kill us.

As far as the Bobcats Arena, I think it was great for hooking fans. I would like to see us play Davidson there every 3 years. Rotate Halton, Belk, Bobcats Arena. This game really needs to be a big deal in Charlotte. Putting it uptown would only increase the interest. I don’t want to take games away from Halton, but if we played 1 game every other year or so at Bobcats, I think it would help our program.

Davidson vs Charlotte should be at Bobcats Arena every year. As much as I hated them beating us last year, it was good for the rivalry. We had clubbed them like baby seals the last 20 years and now it ads a little color to the series, and the true animosities are surfacing. Both Davidson and Charlotte have proven they bring 8-9k fans, if both show up its a near sellout.

That wouldn’t bother me if the game were there every year. I say play it there for 2 years, and then go back on campus, and put it in the rotation. Part of the rivalry is going into someone else’s house.

Why would we give up the home court advantage of playing in Halton?

I think that Davidson looks really deceptive when you watch them. It appears that we are more athletic, have better size and jumping abilities on the inside, and should be able to man handle them (which I hope happens)… But seeing the close games against Carolina and Duke which are good teams, this is gonna be a tough hard fought game. I thought they would lose both by at least 20 points.

Lutz should make the players watch the second half of the Wake game and tell them that this kind of play and energy is the standard now and nothing less should be expected.

One thing is correct, we can’t play any worse than we did last year against them. In the Dukdsone game today, Duke applied pressure and the Davidson pg, Richards???, seemed to get rattled. I think Harris will have 5 steals and cause 5 others. If our defense plays as hard as the second half of the wake game, WE WIN.

I think the we should play high-lights of the Wake game before the game and at half time to pump up the crowd and also to show those that couldn’t make it what they missed. (BRING BACK THE INTRO SONG FROM LAST YEAR… gave chills!!!)

I wanna play Duke, I think we match up well against them and would walk away with the W.

are you available in the event that lutz is not renewed?

I am and would do it for a lot less $$$$. I think any of us would. Be kinda like a dream job.

Halton is better, but we had some fans there tonight that would not have been in Halton. Tonight, I heard numerous fans say they wanted us to play more games downtown. I agree. It's a great way to pick up new fans.
Count me in. That was a good time. I wouldn't mind playing a couple down there every year.

You are alone.

I think the Niners had more fans there on Thursday than Duke or Davidson did today. Sure, there were more people there today, but if Wake had brought as many people as Duke or Davidson, the place would have been packed.

I thought the lower section may have been 3/4 Davidson since they were on the end with the most seats.

Beat me to it. I was just about to head over there. I think they're getting scared. They are preparing their case for the Loss they will be handed Wednesday.

In fact, pussiecat poster from above, wildforthecats was one of the ones claiming us to be ā€œtaking cheap shotsā€ last night. Did we really?

No, that was another poster. My main point is that it was like a pick up game on the playground.
I only watched about 10 minutes of it but it looks like we should make Curry drive not only b/c he’s deadly from three but he makes bad decisions trying to get too deep. We definitely need him in foul trouble.
Curry had 4 fouls, all on charges.

we’ll beat davidson if we can stop curry. i don’t think they can match up to us inside.

question for over40 and bojangles. which one of you 2 was wearing your charlotte 49er hat? my neighbor told me was at the game and sat right behind someone wearing a green charlotte hat.

I had a Charlotte shirt on, but not a hat.

Visit their board if you are interested. Link. I posted once here. Their heads are pretty big with their recent success this year. It just shows they usually suck, because they don’t know how to handle being good. Anyways, I’m a little scared, but I think our athleticism could prove as a challenge for them. Their backcourt is just scary to be honest.

I see this sentiment on here quite a bit, and I encourage it. Please let Coach Lutz and your team know about it as well, as I would REALLY like them to share it, though I doubt they do.

Any team that forgets about Thomas Sander is going to get smoked. Lovedale and Meno are both big athletic and fast. Meno for some reason misses a dunk a game, but aside from that, he’s a monster on the boards. Defensively, ask Hansborough how easy it is to score on our big guys when they collapse.

Please do what UNC Chapel Hill did and stretch your D way out to the three point line so that we can pick and roll and slide to the basket all night long.

We’ve had two games this year we really had a chance to win but let get away, and they happened to be against the Number 1 and Number 7 teams in the country.

Should be fun. We’ve never won in Halton. I’ve heard it’s loud. I’ll be listening on the radio. is the game on TV anywhere?
