The sentiment that what [put name here] appreciates about Charlotte is the fact they get to build a program is getting old.
Yep, donât want anybody to build a winner here.
While true, Ohio nearly beat that WMU team in the MAC championship. They had a good defense that year, but not a good QB, and threw a pic at the end. 2012 was probably Ohioâs best team. They went into Penn State and won convincingly, and were ranked in the top 25. However, after 19 season ending injuries, and injuries to their QB keeping him from running the ball, it was not the same team, allowing things to end very differently than we had hoped.
Sorry, I didnât mean to rub anyone the wrong way with that comment. Let me rephrase it to just say that Albin came to Charlotte, and he expects to win there.
Not you CarlP. We have heard of program building before. However, Albin has proven program success, so I am all in for Albin
My mother had a good friend who taught at Western Michigan U so have always followed the Broncos most closely of all the MAC schools. Even made the trip to Kalamazoo a few times. Remember going to visit the Gerald Ford Museum in Grand Rapids on one visit, as well as getting some pretty good Amish home cooking in northern Indiana.
My bad, I donât think my written tone conveyed how I was saying it. I very much so appreciate your answer to my question. My comment was unrelated to your help and just a hopeless plea into the void
Itâs all good. I donât think any of my answers are inconsistent with what Albin has said in his press conferences. He didnât come to Charlotte to recruit a winning team, and to shelve or replace the existing players. He didnât come to bring a specific playing style, but rather is willing to base his strategy around the abilities of the players he has. He wanted as many of the existing players to stay as possible. He hit the portal hard, not because he wanted to, but because he had to.
Some coaches excel at recruiting. Some are disciplinarians. Others are master strategists. Some are fiery, inspirational speakers. Still others are teachers. Albin is neither a fiery speaker nor a slick salesman. Albin is an organizer, a teacher and a motivator. He is a playerâs coach, focused on getting the players what they need to succeed, and empowering them to become the best they can be. He doesnât fire the players up for one specific game, but rather wants them to play on an even keel, to play well every week. You wonât find his approach to be quite like any other coaches you have watched. Oh, and obviously, he doesnât panic in a tough situation, such as arriving in Charlotte with no assistants, and half the players in the portal.
I still think you may be Albin in disguise
There are several on this board who share your suspicion! I was going to suggest that we go in and raise some funds for a Charlotte weekend for Carl, but that might not be necessary!
Well, Iâm a decade older than Tim, and no one important.
Besides, Tim is far, far too busy, hiring, looking at film, developing procedures, as well as being out recruiting and talking to the press. I freely admit that I have no clue how he can get so much stuff done so quickly. There is no way I could. If it was 50 outside, Iâd be playing golf, a perc of seniority.
By the way, there are lots of successful coaches, with lots of different styles. Iâm not trying to tell you that Timâs style is the only way, because it certainly isnât. Iâm just trying to tell you what to expect, and that I think it will work in Charlotte.
Still havenât convinced me but I really appreciate your contribution of giving us an insight of what to expect from you, ahhhhh from Albin.
Thanks!
You are welcome to come join us at a tailgate this season!
