Saw a video billboard on 77 north at uptown welcoming Albin.
I think when Mike was advocating for us, he contacted his close friends in real estate and presented Coach some impressive shots of houses on Lake Norman at sun rise/set. ![]()
There was one on I85 coming back from Gastonia today
Thinking about Albin reminiscing about horse riding during the Trans-Am one-on-one vid. Has me trying to remember which former Niner MBB coach it was whose wife had horse stables - off Back Creek Church Road IIRC. Perhaps āhe who shall remain namelessā but not sure all these years later.
Is Albin taking a helicopter to and from lake Norman, driving early and late or planning to sit in the parking lot of I-77?
In his contract the university pays his EZ pass monthly bill.
Driving to campus probably wonāt be a piece of cake no matter where he and his wife get a house unless they decide on something closer in like Highland Creek. Would think heās an early riser, though.
He will be able to afford the tolls.
I live in Davidson and ride backroads all the way to TIAA most days. Thatās the way. Always consistent
Yep, if you live in North Meck, you learn the alternative routes.
Itās interesting the way he calls Mike āDirector Hillā. I dunno if I have heard that before.
He is more comfortable in this interview.
That was Hal Wissell. We lived on Rocky River Rd near intersection of Back Creek many years ago. Went past his house a lot. Should still be there.
I like that - respect for his new boss - itās minor but I think itās a positive thing about Coach Albinā¦
Yes, it was āWisselā. The CrossCountry team had a loop we ran which followed āBack Creek Church Roadā. We ran by Halās house and the horseās frequently. UNCCās, head trainer lived in the house next to them. Our fight then was to remove the hyphen, we are not UNC-C we are UNCC.
Still waiting for the contract details but I think Tim can afford the 77 toll lanes
Thought it was Hal!
Anyway, ran that Back Creek loop a number of times decades ago. Finally stopped taking that route after encountering on several occasions the same driver who decided she wasnāt going to yield her lane even though usually no other vehicles on the road.
Thatās a big financial commitment on our part.
