We're hosting the Bahamas Bowl aka Famous Toastery Bowl!

Why can’t Famous Toastery advertise with the Niners?

I may be mildly interested enough to watch some of this game, UNLESS App State is in it. If that were to happen, I think I would puke.

clt is curious about this deal?

do we get parking and concessions? or a flat fee for hosting?

The app people were taking about it on Twitter but I don’t see how they happens since it’s MAC and CUSA.

I hope to work with AD to let us tailgate it!

I thought they where only Charlotte area also but they have 40 locations all over nc and sc and most of them are franchise. They are open some in Florida.

Didn’t realize they had grown that much. Thought they had around 20 locations or so.

That said, 40 is still very small to get naming rights for a bowl game. Maybe this is coinciding with a push to go more national with the brand and draw in new franchisees.

I remember when Toast off East Blvd (I believe the original location) was one of my go to brunch date spots back in the 2000’s that girls seems to like. I think they had to change their name for legal reasons.

When they expanded across the state border they needed to change their name because there was already a “Toast” in South Carolina.

My best friend in high school (Adam Gordan) owned the Famous Toastery in Dilworth. He got his business degree from the University of Charlotte. Unfortunately, he passed away from covid a couple of years ago. His wife is still involved with the business. So, this is pretty cool for me.

How can App play in our stadium if the bowl is tied to the MAC and C-USA?

After last night’s ruling, I have a sneaking suspicion that JMU might be playing here. If there aren’t enough teams that qualify for a bowl.

Not really the thread for it, if it’s a shame jmu isn’t allowed to compete. I know we would all be furious if we were in their position.

We were under the same rules and so was every other move-up program. It sucks they picked this year to have a magical season. Just the way the cards fell.

Yep, but it’s a stupid rule. It would make more sense if you were dropping down a level and had fbs players going into a lower level of competition, but it’s senseless to say you can’t play in a bowl game when you clearly have the talent to belong there.

It’ll work out well for us because it’ll keep a sun belt team from challenging for the ny6 bowl this year, but that doesn’t change the fact it’s a dumb rule.

There’s some discussion about it in the 2023 College Football thread.

ESPN Events will retain all ticket revenue and will pay all expenses associated with operating the stadium, concessions, security and so on. The school retains all concessions revenue.

Hill said it’s too early for financial projections “but there certainly will be a net-positive effect” for his department.

Staging the bowl game offers a preview of what Charlotte’s athletic department envisions as a more aggressive push for outside events at the on-campus stadium.

“This, to me, is a great illustration of what’s to come in terms of our facility after we expand,” Hill said. “The goal is to use the expanded facility year-round.”

The expanded stadium will include a dining room for all 49ers student-athletes, meaning it will be used every day when they’re on campus. High school football, soccer games, stand-alone college football games apart from the 49ers’ home dates, and concerts are among the outside events Hill wants to host.

Capacity of 30,000 will be attractive for certain events, he added, since BofA Stadium seats 74,000 and American Legion Memorial Stadium holds 10,000.

“The bowl is, in a lot of ways, serendipitous, right before we expand the facility,” Hill added.

That’s the kind of leadership and forward thinking I want to read in Mike Hill quotes.

clt is glad tepper introduced live music to Charlotte so we can host concerts now
