I like the optimism here but I have to rain on this parade about concerts.
We might land a few but PNC music pavilion is right up the road and It has a capacity of 19,500.
I have big concert goers in my family and they LOVE the pavilion.
Not too big not too small and the lawn that seats 10K general admission is a big draw because itâs easy to socialize, and get real rowdy. Itâs rumored that people are using various intoxicants at this facility. Scandalous.
Thatâs the thing I donât care about those events. I just think domes and climate control football is stupid. The sport was supposed to be played in the elements a.
I would think of the Rich as more of a sports venue, that could also handle things like large graduations.
The other aspect Mike was discussing was using its facilities - like the team dining hall, etc for other special events.
I did a big corporate style formal dinner at Wakeâs (now named Truist) stadium years ago. Good use of otherwise underused facilities. Generate a little extra income.
I actually prefer Skyla CU Amphitheatre uptown to PNC, but those two arenât really competing for the same shows. Halton never caught on as a concert venue and actually the best shows I ever saw on campus were in the Mine Shaft and Rowe.
If that event could come with a behind the scenes tour of what the facility has and how itâs used, along with a stadium tour that could be real cool for some groups.
