clt says grade the hire
I get your point and time will tell if it was the right decision or not. There’s always some that want everything to happen quickly and others that are ok with a longer process.
Would have liked to see Bonke stay but Wes Millers style of running, shooting quick, and defense probably wouldn’t suit Bonke anyway. Wish we could have played that style here this year with the players we had. They were always at their best until Fearne slowed them down..Our half court game was abysmal
Completely agree with you. I saw our team that was at their best with an up tempo. I expect next year’s team will look totally different in tempo and personnel.
Hate to break it to y’all but Fearne’s team this year averaged 73.3 points per game. Miller’s Cincy team averaged 73.1.
Not exactly the same quality of competition, in conference, or OOC
Yep, in OOC we actually had a better SOS - 160 vs 192. Of course, Big 12 loaded with top.100 teams - American only 3.
Assumption being talent the same across each league.
Not saying Miller was bad just saying scoring not that different.
The big 12 had a banner year with eight teams going to the NCAA. American Conference squeaked in one (automatic bid) in a weak year for the conference.
Actually the American has an automatiic bid.
BTW, Cincy were close to squeaking in but shot themselves in the foot in the B12T.
The Bearcats finished 18-15 this season. They had recovered from a disappointing start to win seven of nine games down the stretch and were considered an NCAA Tournament bubble team heading into the Big 12 Tournament. But the Bearcats lost to UCF 66-65 in overtime in the second round after surrendering an eight-point lead in the final two minutes of regulation, paving the way for Miller’s departure.
Here’s what I’m excited about. We didn’t have some search firm throw all these random candidates and we spend weeks waiting. He knew who he wanted and went and got him.
Yep, there was nothing random about the candidates. Hopefully picked the right one.
Sean May is expected to be on staff as lead assistant last I heard.
Back in my going out days a running joke amongst my friends was seeing Sean May in the bars uptown every weekend trying pick up chicks while on injured reserve for the Bobcats.
