There was some discussion about this in a previous thread, and it made wonder. What is the shade of green that is actually defined as NINER GREEN?
I picked out four colors from sources I could easily find quickly, but Iām sure there are plenty of more shades to be seen (go to the bookstore).
I was just in VTās bookstore yesterday, and I was blown away by the consistency of the colors. Every orange was the same and every maroon was the same. Our bookstore and athletic teams? Not so much.
Perhaps finding a signature green for us can help our image as a whole. What do you guys think?
I am going against my own avatar and going for choice 2. I wish it was state somewhere, on NC States website they have logo info and it says all red must be āRed 124ā or something like that. That way it is known. I am willing to be that the green on our soccer uniforms and our baseball uniforms arenāt the same.

This is pretty common among big schools. Tennessee and Clemson do it, too, to get the right orange. Panthers have a very specific blue. Someone at the school might have the number.
Our advertising staff deals with this all the time, particularly with sports, where teams request a specific coolor. Niners might do it, but since it hasnāt been a problem (as a few others have, notably Bobcats orange), I havenāt heard about it.
So, if we have a set color, why are all our athletics teams and bookstore apparel different colors?
Good question. Iām glad to see we actually have one picked out⦠now how about we uh⦠I donāt know⦠USE IT!!!
The color specād for the new entrance was a deep forest green, darker then the first choice. I even discussed this with my boss, who said he didnāt disagree and that it amazed him that there were so many different variations of green. The color specād for the steel though was so dark, in shadows it comes off as black.
Iād have to go with #2 though, best vibrant green up there, not too dark, not too washed out.

Wow, looks like our variation will be permanent until we get yet another new entrance in oh, a couple hundred years.
It's not up to "opinion". It's FOREST GREEN. Always was and always will (should) be. Next question?
If thatās true, then why is everything I own a different shade? Obviously the people making our small supply of apparel and gear has their own āopinionā of what our green is supposed to be.

You are correct. Itās their opinion and they are WRONG a lot of the times. They just donāt care to get it right. Remember the GOD-AWFUL uniās we had Jobeyās senior year?!?!?! That junk gave me seizures just looking at it. Unless we have someone āofficialā who knows what color we are overseeing the production of stuff, this will continue to happen. If you look closely, youāll see other schoolsā stuff thatās also shade-challenged, but for some reason, missing the correct green for us happens a lot. Maybe we just pay more attention to our own.

They seem to have no trouble with the PMS Pussie, errr Carolina Blue shade.
long as itās a close green and somebody wants to wear it, Iām happy. Iāve never been a fan of using random colors. Those blue letters bother me. They donāt look good and they are bad for other reasons.
whatever dept on campus that handles marketing, branding, pr, and the licensing of everything is futile
QFT. I guarantee there is less UNCC merchandise available than any other college of any size in the state. Iāve been in the bookstores of High Point and UNCG in the past two weeks and our bookstore (including Grayās) isnāt even in the same ballpark.
