This is the funniest damn sequence of events I could have ever imagined for UNC Raleigh! I hope they end up with Dana Kirk before it’s all said and done. This is turning out to be worse for them than the UNC-CH situation when Roy spurned them the first time.

I read an article about Ford in SI once - it said that in 1974 Norm Sloan came over to Phil’s house for a recruiting visit and Phil and his dad had the UNC game on through their entire pitch.
If Phil Ford, Mr. UNC, becomes the head coach at N.C. State I will eat my hat. I can’t see that happening in a million years.
By my count six(6) coaches, not four(4) have rejected NCState. the Observer is not counting Lon Kruger (ASU) and John Brey(LSU) that NCState publicly said they were interested in but rejected them before they could offer them a deal. And these are the public rejections we know about. How many more are there we are not aware?
If you go by who they contacted, it’s more like 10. Many coaches like Crean immediately said they weren’t interested.

all joking aside, and beleive me Lutz drives me nuts sometimes…but the 49er fan base could learn something from this whole fiasco at NCSU. they are case in point in how a fan base can screw a program. Granted they are a unique situation, but they have big money they are throwing around and still get turned down.

You know, I have thought the same thing. They have a lot more money than we do and they can’t get anyone to come there.
Most NCSU fans would not admit it but I wonder if some would like to have Herb back. Who else is out there? Whittenburg seems to be the obvious choice. I wonder if he is a little angry about not being listed as a possible candidate (I haven’t seen his name at all).
speaking of ncstate phil ford (assistant to the pistons ex tarhole basketball player) is now being considered by NC State.
Was posted before about Ford. I heard he wanted the job under the condition that Fowler built a bar in his office and he got a personal driver.
