What is the level of success needed to extend Fearnes contract after the season?

We’re about to lose to a. 500 mediocre as hell A10 team. Anyone saying we need to sign Fearne has lower expectations for the program than I do.

I’m tired of losing. I’m not going to put up with it anymore. Either Mike Hill makes us relevant I’m not making an effort anymore. I’ll watch when and if I feel like it but I’m not sitting through any more losing. 18 straight years is enough.

This thread needs to be put to bed. This isn’t a Ryan Odom situation.

clt says fearnes had a bad coaching day. no timeouts during the late run in the first half and way too many threes from non shooters

I don’t know if Fearne is it or not but to all the " hot take" names the in the know posters put out there, here is a question for you.

What would be these coaches record be with this team this year? Fearne is stuck with these players this year. Ron Ron did that. What would Richey, Kern, etc. do with this team this year that flat out can not shoot. Would they be playing this hard or holding Richmond to this point total tonight where they average over 90 a game at home. The execution was there tonight but My Lord how many wide open 3s can you miss!! It is ridiculous the situation we are in now and a lot of blame to go around.

Fearne and the other assistants minus the one he hired helped recruit and coach these players. This is as much their team as it is Ron’s. Fearne does not get a free pass on the roster situation.

Fearne has been our associate HC from the start. He can’t recruit. He’s at fault as much as Ron. He’s ran point on 3 players at Charlotte. Anzac, Russian, and Aly. Two are absolutely terrible. This roster will be completely flipped next year. Flipped to the point of getting rid of 8+ guys on this roster.

As evidenced by our playing style, Fearne didn’t necessarily agree on our roster. He was not in charge. Falls on Ron.

Coaches, especially ones who have the credentials of Fearne do not stay for 5 years if they have fundamental differences with the head coach. It is not like Fearne was a young assistant waiting for his big break.

TSD, while I appreciate your passion. I personally think the assistant coaches are more responsible for scouting and recruiting than the HC. When I look on 247 at players profiles it shows who recruiting him and I never see a HC. Also, I don’t understand your comment about ā€œhe has them playing hardā€. These kids are auditioning for a job every time they step on a court. For this team or their next one. We saw this in football, scholarships are not guaranteed and everyone enters the portal now. Better have some good tape out there if you do. If you don’t try, your current or future coach will see. Playing for your coach is a thing of the past

Top 4 in the AAC…

It’s not a measurable to me. It’s an eye test thing. I’ll know by what I see. That said he’s not in a fair fight. He’s bringing a knife to a gun fight.

For those saying he is as responsible for the roster as that piece of shit that left in June, please stop. You’re embarrassing yourselves.

Go ahead and keep making excuses. This roster isn’t good enough. And he’s in the middle of it. He’s been here since 2018. Half our team (if not more) should be playing in the SoCon. You hire Fearne and there’s no coming back. Might as well kill the program and give the money to football.

I’m not advocating for Fearne. I’m in the camp of hiring a Marshall or Wade type. But don’t lay this shitshow on him. Maybe Khalifa or Williams stay if that ass Sanchez wasn’t here at the time

Marshall would kill it here. It will never happen though.

Playing hard is not a given in todays AAU BB portal world. Hell we had to fire Price mid season because the team was gettin ready to quit in mass. Good times.

The assistant coches go out and get the players for the system the HC wants. As I stated in another thread how many players with Ron were recruited for the 1-3-1 zone with traps we were trying to run last night. Assistant coaches do what the HC wants to run or are not around long. Also Ron was a control freak that never varied on anything so I don’t know who would over ride him on anything. Hell Hill took 27 years to finally say no more extensions and Ron bolted.

I sm not 100% on the Fearne train but I see that he can coach, teaches toughness and physicality and changes things in game fir advantages. Can he recruit. Dont know but I have also seen how we hire revenue sports coaches and it scares me.

Thanks for the passion comment if it was meant complimentary but honestly I am close to the edge on just throwing in the towel on all of it because it seems futile.

So under Ron Fearne was in charge of recruiting big man/ 5 players and hit on 1 out of 3 at the G5 level. Sounds reasonable. The problem might be with who is recruiting the other positions that are SOCON level players and why Ron assembled this type of staff to recruit his system.

Again this is all a crap shoot but not as cut and dried as you make it. There are a lot of coaches that can be hired that can put us in a position of never coming back . Hell we might be there now. We hired Mark Price on a booster recommendation for goodness sake.

Again. I don’t know if Fearne is it or not but I know up close what I have with him and no clue on the others or IF they will even be available for us to hire.
Our problems seem higher than just coaches at the moment. I would not put my career on the line fir Charlottes situation right now with facilities, NIL, or administration support if I am an up and coming Coach.

I was 3 years Major and 1 year Price. However, I’ve been able to stay connected and get pieces of information over the years. We simply need a new start with a proven winner.

If Fearne was never an assistant to Sanchez here, and was hired based solely on his Australian league credentials, would we be excited about the hire?

Id say no because we need someone that knows how to win in college.
