LOL! Or complain that it wasnât caviar!
I doubt our fanbase is anywhere unique in the area of complaining. Itâs still annoying, mind you.
Yeah people on here love to be reductive and distill the hopes, dreams, and desires of other human beings down to a single one dimensional factor. Theyâve been doing it for years, long before NIL.
Truth is no one knows if Ali or Brice would have been here if Ron left early. Or if weâd matched their NIL offers. Contrary to popular belief, some kids might gasp like their professors or classes or degree program. Some might have a girlfriend or want to stay close to family. Others might be interested in job opportunities in a city like Charlotte beyond playing ball.
NIL is a factor and we need to get money going to players where we can, but you can also ignore anyone who tells you with absolute certainty they know why a stranger made the decision they did, especially a young man in their teens or early 20s.
So why is it necessary to wait?
How much have you signed up to give to the NIL fund? Asking for a friend.
If we had an nil, id give to it immediately. I cant give to something that doesnât exist
At this point I would give to a basketball collective. It would not be much but I would give some.
If we had 1000 fans give 500 bucks. Assume 10% administrative (could be low, lawyers are expensive) then thatâs 400K to distribute to the team.
Thatâs doable for Charlotte.
400k at the g5 level buys us teams that dominate the AAC. Jmu kept their best player and their whole together for like 50k
Hopefully someone gets it going. Iâm down.
Hereâs your chanceâŚâŚâŚ
The menâs basketball team is currently 9-2 in their debut in the American Athletic Conference and one game out of first place. The time is NOW to show your support and help menâs basketball continue their winning ways.
There are two opportunities to show your financial support:
- Make a gift today to the menâs basketball sport enhancement fund providing scholarships and operational support to the program.
- Register for the Niner Exchange to provide NIL opportunities for our menâs basketball student-athletes.
As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you in Halton Arena this week for a two-game home stretch. Tickets are available to purchase HERE.
The Niner Exchange looks like an awesome thing but I donât have a company.
Maybe Niner Nation.Net could register an hire our players for social media promotion.
Seems like the only way people on this board can get money straight to the players legally.
Does it really buy you a team to dominate? Professional sports is littered with teams who spent the most not dominating. Just because you can spend a ton of cash does equate to winning or dominating! Already seeing the same play out in college as well.
JMU spent 50k and is the third best team in the Sun Belt guess App and Troy outspent them to be better.
I think a Niner collective for basketball. Should it materialize, focus on player retention. We are not going to win recruiting battles for 4 and 5 stars but hopefully we can work to keep the players we develop to stay.
One of these doesnât impact NIL .
the other is for businesses. There is no way for normal people to donate to an NIL that can attract or retain players. It doesnât currently exist.
Doesnât have to focus on those guys. Needs to focus on guys that are showing out at smaller programs but want to move up a level in competition but still have a good chance to start, or on guys that got recruited over at big programs and arenât getting the playtime they want.
Thatâs who we are getting to transfer in now.
Patterson, Jackson, Milicic, Braswell, Gipson, Reiber, the dude from Ohio State that couldnât stay healthy, the dude from Holy Cross who was good, etc, etc.
NOW we have to worry about them transferring out after improving their games here.
This is the first year with unlimited transfers.
My thoughts are that you need to have a coach in place soon for 2024-25 recruiting.
Its amazing how much pushback im receiving on here about the importance of having a collective(yes i shoukd have said that, not nil). Its paramount in todays world. Myself, as well as many others attempted to donate to the goldmine alliance but kept receiving an error message. Emailed hill and he gave me some bs about sending him the link to it bc he couldnt find it. We also want to know who runs it so we can contact the appropriate person if we have questions and where the money is going
The AD can only endorse the collective but they arenât the ones running it or in charge of it.
