What to do with Ron Sanchez?

Temple and Wichita State have pretty much ā€œsold their soulsā€ as it pertains to their respective men’s basketball programs.

Men’s basketball top dog at both schools. AAC not a good fit for that and especially now with the loss of Houston and to an extent Cincy.

Accepting CBI bid has to be a test Mike Hill has given Sanchez to show he can win some games or be fired right?
  • I agree, it has to be some kind of test
  • I disagree, Ron is not being fired even if he loses 1st round.

I think accepting this tournament means Ron is going to stick around for another season. Otherwise, you decline and make the announcement and start the search process.

For all the single people out there if you ever find someone that is as loyal and speaks highly of you as Mike Hill does of Ron Sanchez don’t let them get away.

Is an extension next ? To aid in ā€˜recruiting’……

The common thought process is a coach needed around 3 yrs under contract to effectively recruit and not have contract used against him on the recruiting trail.

Given the current climate of transfers and portal I’m not sure I agree with that thought process now days. We sure as hell better not extend him.

Seriously, Mike could really be backing himself into a corner. What if we lose to WCU? Thats a real possibility. My fear is WCU will be up for this game as it’s a chance to knock of an in state opponent from a higher conference. For us, not much to gain and a lot to lose.

Agreed. You look at the field and if this is what we consider to be our peers now…

On a neutral court, we could see another L. I haven’t tried to look, but what is the highest Net and lowest Net in this thing?

That was the most depressing part of accepting this invite. Look at those schools.

And when we lose to one of them. Oof.

For just $750 more, we could have guaranteed a first round victory

I Don’t think it has anything to do with peers or perception of the tournament.

I think it’s strictly Ron is coming back and this is more time for the team to play together and practice leading into next season.

Not that I think that is worthy reason, but I think that’s the thought process.

If they lose that first game to Western…

You people ever thought that there may be a major financial contributor out there that wants to retain Ron for some reason? Cure, become a major contributor and then make your demands.

If we add another year it better be with no buyout for us

I might even make that trade at this point. Erase the buyout completely and we will give you one last chance Ron.

It’s still kinda weak, but it at least gives me some sliver of value in retaining him.

That could be, but from what we have heard from the large donor circle most are either neutral or want him gone.

No. I seriously doubt its money related. If we cant afford a 1.5 million dollar buyout, the majority of which will be offset when he gets another job, then thats an even more scathing indictment of hill

The clown photoshop is too much.

Maybe save that for the ā€œWhat do we do with Mike Hillā€ thread. And it’s too early for that.
