Once we get to 40K, I think we will be there for a while.

Dowdy-Ficklen is at 50,000 for comparison. I would think weâd have to show gradual support from say to 25,000 first, then get to 40,000. Maybe only the upper level on one side would make it around 25,000.
One side upper level as drawn should bring capacity to ~27,500-28,000.
So how about:
Temp seating on visitors side, pushes capacity to 20k
Upper deck on home side pushes capacity to 30k
Removal of temp seating on visitors side and construction of upper level pushes capacity to 40k
Yes. This is more how I imagine it would happen. What that time frame will be? I dunno. Iâd bet the over on 2020 though.
TSD makes a good point about financing. But I just canât imagine weâll build something that holds 40K without even knowing if we can support 18k.
I really donât want to see us build up one side but not the other.
If we expand to 30,000ish by building up one side and then demand is not there for more, weâre left with a retarded looking stadium.

Correct me if I am wrong - but isnât that how most stadium expand? They add on to home side and then expand the visitors side? I get what you are saying - but it seems like a really big leap to go from 20,000 to 40,000.

Like temporary bleachers are classy? Modifying the existing building into a cool and permanent seat increase to 20-to 25K should not be beyond the capability of a talented design firm thatâs already connected to the project.

The upper level of our baseball stadium is the same thing as temporary seating.
Ludwig field at the University of Maryland uses them beautifully.
I was there for the Niners-UMD game last fall and I didnât even realize they were temporary seating until I noticed they were sitting on the track.
On a side note, does anyone else picture MeanJoeGreen actually looking like the guy in his avatar?
Thatâs going to be some nice temp bleachers for $60 million.

Not as pronounced but ECUâs is lopsided and it looks like on the visitors side:
Just not sure how we can make a jump from 20k to 40k - i would rather have a dumb looking stadium than have a giant stadium with no one there:
With our stadium being a sunken bowl, the lopsidedness would be very pronounced. It would look terrible.
Not saying it wouldnt look terrible - but so would 15,000 seat no one is sitting in. Would rather look terrible and be full than have a perfect looking stadium with a crap ton of empty seats.
Now if we sell out every game at 20,000 and have 10,000 people on a wait list then by all means do it right.
Id rather have a full lopsided stadium than a stadium with a significant portion of empty seats. We can have 7500 people in Halton, and it still doesnât look good because of the empty seats.

I think the âtemporary seatingâ that we will be adding will look similar to what they have added at NC State in this end zone. The upper seats under the scoreboard are just bleachers. They donât look bad.
JMUâs stadium may look lopsided, but its sold out.
Give me that any day.
Most stadiums expand on their non-pressbox side first.
Those do look pretty good.

About 1/3 of the seating in Halton also falls under âtemporary.â

This.
Marylandâs stadium is non-symmetrical as well. I donât see it as that big of a deal. All seats with a butt is what really matters. Definitely donât want the curtain covering empty sections.
