Wonder where he got that name? But no thanks.
lets just find every coach still alive who used to coach an ACC teamā¦
waits to see Pete Gillen pop up
All I know is there are a couple of guys in the mix that have not been mentioned. This is the first time I have seen those second 2 names but I havenāt read every post.
not busting on Lefty here, but nobody knows the short list except 3 people and they arenāt going to say squat
I donāt even think Dale Halton knows the short list. I think the big boosters want certain interviews, but nobody knows the top 5 except Judy, Spease, CHP and CHP has yet to speak to any candidate.
Luckily there arenāt a ton of great jobs in front of us, so we can be pretty choosy it appears. I hope to hear something by Sun or Mon.
I didnāt say I know any names, because I donāt. Iām just saying there are 1 or 2 top candidates who have yet to be mentioned on here.
Iām beginning to get sick. If Pat Kelsey is not at the top of our list and we are looking at other candidates, I am fast losing confidence that we are going to get the right coach for our programā¦
I think there are plenty of other candidates out there that would be good hires for our program. If Kelsey were such an unbelievable candidate for HC, he would have been hired somewhere already. I think heās got a lot of upside and would make a good head coach, but letās not pretend that heās the only person we can bring in that has tremendous potential.
agreed. The thing he has going for him over some other guys is his 1 season with Xavier. A guy like Mark Montgomery has been on the bench with Tom Izzo, i think that is a little more worthy.
Hell, can you imagine if Magic wanted to stop by and visit him while coming down to visit Jordan, and a top 50 recruit happened to be visiting that weekend. . .
As of Monday afternoon, Pat Kelsey has not been contacted by Charlotte. Will have blog a little later.
That is absolutely unacceptable if it is true?
I understand the need to name a new coach in a timely manner, but I donāt think an extra week or 2 in this particular situation is necessarily such a bad thing.
Clearly there was no plan when they let Lutz go, as I said before, the key will be our 2nd choice for the job, that usually ends up being the next coach, not our first choice.

I would expect most of this is put together at the final four in Indianapolis this weekend. That is basically the convention for the college bball coaching industry.
Not necessarily true on any point. We donāt know what is going on, the University has people in place to do these things and like it or not, we donāt get a vote.
Iāve going to take a wait and see attitude. They could be close or the could be early in the process. If I was to hazzard a guess, Iād say weāre down to a couple or 3 guys, but thatās all it is- a guess.
Give them a chance- theyāve actually made some good hires in the past in other sports, maybe they will again. I prefer to have someone in place now, but I would rather do a thorough vetting and be as sure as we can they are the right person.
I donāt prefer an ACC re-tread, but once again, I donāt get a vote.

I like the thought of Mark Montgomery. Izzo is a genius, and his coaching tree is strong.
I would put him above Kelsey honestly, but that is just me.
And WHAT facts do you base that on?
You need facts on if Izzo is a genius or not? If you need facts on this I probably just need to stop as there is no hope.
If you need facts on his coaching tree: Crean has been successful everywhere and will turn Indiana around, Brian Gregory is doing good things at Dayton, Stan Heath left Arkansas better than he found it and is actually doing some good things with USF in the big east.
As I said though, its just my opinion that he is a better option. Neither has been a head coach before.

Iād much rather look hard for the right guy rather than jumping on the 1st guy.
sorry but that made me think of that App St girl you humiliated asking what size pants she wears :o ;D ;D ;D
This is as far from reality as you can get. As has been stated before, the fact the we are hearing nothing is a good thing. The search has been handled perfectly and we will have a coach by next Wed.
prob posted on here but i dont feel like reading the 75 threads about this topic per andy katzā¦
