Why all of the Lutz hate all of a sudden?

It's not he meals that concern me, it's the 12 pk he washes it down with that makes me ponder...
I try to keep it below 7 on a week night.
Oh so I suppose you are an expert, because you were able to see him play in person?

That qualification really holds weight…

Wow…nice comeback. You’re right, watching him in person for virtually every home game he played for 4 years and several road games, in addition to watching or listening to all the others isn’t nearly as important as “watching him on our TV games”…I shall defer to you for all future things Withers-related…
—C Phil Jones has seen his scoring dip as the team implements a new system on offense. Jones, who had scored in double figures three times in January, tallied just four points in a loss to Xavier and went scoreless against Winthrop.
For those that say Lutz isn’t adapting to what players we have left on the team.

Why would Lutz modify a system to get the big man less touches when the perimeter guys are the players with injuries and if we slow the pace, the ball should go inside more?

We haven’t been able to get him the ball and when we do, sometimes he doesn’t catch it.

I love Big Phil…But,Sometimes…is being kind.

Demarco was good for 18 pts a game his frosh year also, but Mullins forgot to play him. So his freshmen year he avg. those 9 pts/game and played maybe 25% of the time. He was very good as a frosh, and we had a good team. He also was a 5th yr sr in hs, but he scored like that in hs also.

Withers was ranked in the 40’s in some recruiting services. I don’t think there was any mystery to it, he was very good in hs and very good on our team all four years. He was a very good rebounder and liked to rebound so that is what he emphasized, in college as a pf he probably did as well as he could on the offense side. Very few pf’s dominate at the college level, some do of course. Pg’s and 2 guards can dominate.

Amnesiac, your name is perfect…Withers was NOT ranked in the 40s ANYWHERE that I ever saw and I keep up pretty close with that stuff. Also, in DJ’s freshman year we still had Jarvis Lang (for most of the year anyway—I believe Lang was injured part of the year). Mullins did NOT forget DJ—but he did REMEMBER how good Jarvis was!

Edit: DJ not Curt, of course

These are always cool to look back on. HoopsScoop did fairly good at the top. It’s also interesting to see the ones that slip through. How about
Deron Williams at 38
Brandon Roy at 40
Hilton Armstrong at 117
Kevin Pittsnogle at 143
and
Rodney Carney at 173!!!

I’m not sure how much of this is related to evaluating talent and how much is related to developing talent. But one thing is for sure, we haven’t had that many success stories like these. I think Dijuan and Coleman are definite nice finds. Harris a walk on and Coleman only rated around 2 stars. I can’t believe somebody would rate Carney 173.

Even though Curtis was rated 31 by this site, I think around 70-80 was more accurate from other sites. And I definitely believe he lived up to or exceeded a ranking in that ballpark.

Also, just noticed on the HoopScoop site, they don’t have Braswell or Sherrill in their top 100. Not meaning to put a damper. Just saying.

What planet do you live on? They must have some incredible drugs there.
It's weird. You guys seem to be supporting them more than their own fan base has. Most tar hole fans I know cringed when Thomas came in the game and thought he was garbage. Many Duke fans will admit that they expected more out of McRoberts. Like I previously mentioned, McRoberts was projected to possibly be the #1 over all pick but ended up going in the second round. So apparently whatever planet I'm on I'm not the only one.

You really think the fans of the school I mentioned think that every player has improved, every season? That’s absurd.

Just found some of this from the previous StatSheet link. Frasor was #31, Ginyard #29 and McRoberts was #1. Paulus #13 and Nolan Smith #19. Jamie Skeen #50. How many did Charlotte have in the top 100 from 2004-2007? Just 1. Anjuan was rated 100+ in 2006.

Don’t start rumors about Gill…

you usually make some valid points. not this time. good high school teams would have a hard time against those teams in canada we slaughtered.

Haha I don’t know man. I doubt good high school teams could be competitive against us… BUT great teams(Mater Dei, St. Benedict’s, St. Anthony) could definately beat us. Especially since all their players go to big name schools like North Carolina, Pitt, UCLA, UCONN. All their players are in the ESPNU Super 60 every year.

He was ranked 83rd for the Class of 2008.

Chris is also on the 12th Hoopscoop All American

http://www.hoopscooponline.com/members/all-topplayersregardlessofclass-jan2009.asp

So basically that puts him in the top 60 accounting for Sophs, Jrs., Srs., and 5th year players.

KJ is ranked 269th overall for class of 2009 on Hoopscoop.

That would explain it. I was looking at the 2009 class. Thanks. The StatSheet link has Braswell at 71. And don’t get me wrong, I believe he is a great land for us. Just wanted to put it in perspective, so that it might make expectations somewhat realistic.

Guilty as charged.
