Wilderness to prep school
What does this mean in terms of status for next year? Did he sign a letter of intent or just a verbal? Is his recruitment now back open? How does this crap work?
He is free to go where ever he wants. We have to recruit him all over again. Hopefully he won’t have a great season at prep school and the BCS school will stay away. But his recruitment from our perspective will be the same as ever recruit we are after next year. The LOI becomes void is the player doesn’t qualify.

Someone with a little time, can quickly turn most of those 10 commandments around:

Thou shalt lose valuable assistant coaches every year…because we win every year, 7 out of 10 NCAA tourneys, 19 wins average, etc.

I’d rather be involved with high profile recruits than not.

I still don’t see why our own fans go out of their way to put the program down. Our coaches bust their ass to overcome all the disadvantages, win consistenty and still get their balls busted on a regular basis.

Lefty, I don’t think most of our fans go out of the way to put the program down, but they are just stating things that do seem to happen to us year after year. If the vast majority of things listed were just straight-up bold face lies, then I would say there was great effort put into downgrading our program. I think people are sometimes just letting out frustration over events that seem to happen to us yearly. I believe Lutz & company are working hard, but fans are just anxious to see the program advance to the next level (eventhough I think going to the A-10 was a step back, but the best choice we had at the time). We all have the same goal for the program: to be a perennial top 25 team, and win a National Championship (which should be the goal, because if you don’t want to be the best there is no need to even play).

I’m about worn out with this stuff happening all the time. I’d rather be ignorant of all this crap, but that would mean not coming here, soooo. It was a lot more fun being a fan when I didn’t know all the gory behind the scene details. It wears me out.

Patterson?
The odd’s of us getting Phil at this point 20% tops
And that percentage is basded on what? If he is enrolled, and Anjuan is gone, why the hell cant Phil play??

I base my 20% on the fact that school has started and he isn’t here. Common sense percentage I would say.

Do not question the infinite wisdom of J4L!!

Other teams do as well as us without losing valuble assistants every year. We have a problem that needs to be addressed.

As for being involved with high profile recruits, if you sit in the boat watching other people catch the big fish all day and go home happy you had your hook in the same ocean, fine. But most folks aren’t natured that way.

If disapoinment over recent developments makes the fans bad, you should find some consolation in the fact that our fan base is small and barely growing.

Jason, my roommate just told me he saw Phil walking with Courtney the other day. He said he didnt know who he was at the time, but he was just as tall as Courtney, maybe a hair taller, and a little bigger. Sounds like a Phil sighting…

Here’s your chance to instead of identifying perceived problems, actually suggest courses of action. You too KTown with your commandments. Gonna break the tablets for us?

I found a rather large shoe print in the ground today. Im gonna go make a plastic mold and do some analysis. I'll let you know what I find.

It is notable that losing good coaches, losing recruits, and losing fans are “perceived” problems to some, which of course means some others do not deem them real problems. Some of the fans do consider 19 wins, a possible win in a post season tournament, and 5700 people at the games just right. Its a danm strange thing that those who want to see our program move to the next level are considered the enemy by the complacent.

Common since percentage I would say.

This should be in 100 point bold font at the top of this website.

As for holding our hoops program accountable to whether or not a kid qualifies??

I still dont understand this whole thing. He took the SAT, then took it again and did a lot better and they had to investigate it right? So then what happened? Did they find that he cheated and thats why hes not getting in or what? Or did it have nothing to do with the SAT thingy?

they don’t have to clear anyone they don’t think is acceptable for whatever reason

Now that he has not enrolled at Charlotte, Wilderness’ recruitment has re-opened. Despite the change to prep school, Wilderness plans to keep his commitment to the 49ers program, the Observer has learned.

I love this kid. I hope he does very well here. What the georgia SAT counsel did is a crime.
Common since percentage I would say.
huh? what kind of sentence is that? common since when?

oh! you mean common SENSE.

your grammar is as bad as that of a tarhole fan. just kidding with you j4l. nothing is that bad.

D.O.B.A. x 10

At least SOMEBODY gets it. The 10 Commandments of 49er Basketball was a way to add a little levity to the continuing frustration of being a 49er fan. People here seem to do one of 2 things…1- They take themselves way too seriously or 2- They take ME too seriously.

Look. The Red Sox and the Cubs have made themselves famous for being “cursed.” Remember when the Patriots were the “Patsies” and the joke of the NFL?? Remember 14 seasons ago when the Braves were the “joke” of MLB??

We seem to be just as cursed and, in my opinion, a little levity is needed to temper and deal with the frustration. Again, it’s ridiculous to take my comments as a “personal” slam to the program. I love the program and I love being a Niner…we are the few the proud the continuously frustrated and the extremely dedicated.

To go thru what we do and keep coming back for more…you have to be die-hard fans!!!

Plus…it makes victory that much sweeter when you go thru what we go thru year in and year out…then have that “magical” year (Like the Red Sox last year or like the Braves did when they went Worst-to-First in '94). Don’t hate it…embrace it…have fun with it…it is what we are.

When is the last time we beat an ACC school for a player, yet arguably finish better (NCAA or NIT) than half the schools in the ACC most every year? The point is, we do not beat the ACC for players. Wish we could, but most everyone in the state/region grow up with ACC dreams – and that’s a positive for the ACC, not a slap at us. Somehow, we consistently cobble together very good seasons, without “ACC”-caliber players. Doesn’t that say something about the coach? We all want to play and advance in the NCAA’s every year, but what program like us doesn’t have to wait out the last minute defections to the BCS leagues? Or the occasional issue with a player’s eligibility? We get and take the best players available, sometimes flirting with the high profile guy that is getting tremendous pressure from friends/family/coaches/posse to sign with a “big time” school. I love Charlotte, but are we crazy enough to think that there are kids out there that are so self determined at 17-18 years old that they can turn their back on that pressure and sign the papers with the Niners. What HS or AAU coach doesn’t want his guys at high-major programs? We are a major program, but there is a big difference in us and the ACC/BCS – not in terms of play – but rather in terms of ego. Von Wafer was basically told signing with Charlotte would be a “death sentence” if he wanted a big shoe deal as a pro. Ish Smith was told he would be the “next Chris Paul” if he came to Wake. If you are 17-18, those kind of comments carry some weight. Out coaches battle that, but quite honestly none of us know their real targets. They have, and will continue, to get good solid players that will win a lot more games than they lose, and maybe grab a superstar every now and then, but the idea that they can’t recruit/coach, etc has no merit at all when you look up and see nine postseason banners hanging in Halton since 1997.
