NO to Marshall.
McKillop is younger than Roy Williams! He is not only a great coach, he is also a class act. Davidson also plays a tougher out of conference schedule than we do, and with our future in the A-10, we will need to also.

His options at Charlotte are just too limited and it's not that big of a secret. When was the last time State made the Sweet 16? Our program is better than their's.

I kind of meant it as a rhetorical question. Thanks though. The point being, they havenāt gone very recently either.
Originally posted by Normmm@Feb 2 2005, 02:42 PM When was the last time State made the Sweet 16? Our program is better than their's. Since 1977:
N.C. State: 1980, 1982, 1983 (national champs), 1985 (elite 8), 1986 (elite 8), 1989 (Sweet 16), 1991, 2002, 2003, 2004 (1 win). 11 appearances, 17 wins.
Charlotte: 1988, 1992, 1995, 1997 (1 win), 1998 (1 win), 1999, 2001 (1 win), 2002, 2004. Nine appearances, 3 wins.
In no way, shape or form is our program better than theirs.
However, this year, I would not trade our coach, our players or our season for theirs.
SO, In the last 14 years, we have won 3 times more NCAA games than State; weāve also been invited almost 3 times more.
I would say that 3 times more invites & 3 times as many wins makes us better since the early 90ās.
Since 1990 Charlotte is 3-8 in the tournament and NCSU is 1-4. Our program is better than theirs.

Thanks for proving the point Mike.
Our program is better than theirs.
Put ātraditionā in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first.
They have a national championship with two different coaches.
We havenāt had a final four since 1977.
Sure, weāve had more success recently, and we probably have a better team, but get real. Look at the stats Mike P put up. Sure, you can isolate a time frame, but their program isnāt just 10 years. If you were to talk in terms like that, there was a time period when we would have been one of the worst in the nation.
A better comparison, WFU. Our program is probably on par with theirs out of the ACC, or GaTech.

WFU is a far better program right now than ours in talent, recognition, etc.
State is garbage and not good at all.

I donāt care what they have done in the past, this year is all that matters, but I wouldnāt say that we have a better program than UCLA either. Or Indiana.
Over the last decade, our program has probably been better than NCSU, thatās about as far as I will go.
I wasnāt trying to prove a point, just giving you the facts. Stats, as they say, can prove anything you want them to. Since Oct. 15, 2003, N.C. State is 1-1 in the NCAA tournament, and Charlotte is 0-1. Both teams on the bubble as of today.
Originally posted by Mike_Persinger@Feb 2 2005, 04:00 PM Both teams on the bubble as of today. State is 13-7 with losses to Fla. St, VaTech, St. Johns, WVU and Miami amoung others and have an RPI of 91.
They are decidedly not on the bubble. They have to play their way onto the bubble at this point.
Wake Forest has 15 appearances and 19 wins since 1977. Three times at least in the Sweet 16.

State had one win in '91 tournament too just for more detail.
Interesting factā¦
State is the most succesful final four team ever, having won the chamionship both times they made the final four. Interesting fact.
Its not just tradition that makes Stateās program ābetterā. The conference affiliation has a lot to do with it. Look at the early season respect we got vs. them. They were on the verge of the top-10. Plus they get seven games a year against Duke, Carolina, Wake and Maryland. Its easier to recruit, they have a good arena, they have great fans.
State was dumb not to grab Pitino when they most likely had the chance a few years ago.
I think our program will surpass stateās though, because we will keep progressing and moving ahead of state in all of the previously mentioned categories. We will surpass Duke and Carolina and Wake as well due to Michael Beasley. State will find reasons not to fire herb and stay in their constant state of sucking.
long post, my bad
