Youngsown Postgame
No. The box score will say something like high 4,000s. But there should be no more than 2,000 in the Arena. The week between Christmas and New Year’s,bad.
Just curious – why not a doubleheader with women’s team on Sunday instead of a game on Tuesday night before New Year’s?

Good question. Tuesday is fine, though.
That is pretty accurate. I was impressed with the crowd for a 12/21 game considering classes were over etc. I wonder if we will have a similar crowd for 12/30?
Really? I was there and will agree that the crowd was better than I expected.

But 5,892 ? I beg to differ.

I don’t believe there were any more than 4,000 pairs of buttcheeks in the seats.

That dude's name is Jermaine Anderson. He plays for Canada. He actually played for Fordham in the 05-06 season. But anywho here is the link: http://www.basketball.ca/en/hm/inside.php?sid=149&id=1494 (in his team photo in the link, he really does look a lot like dave chappelle)

Dude. You are divine. Awesome find.

Bobby commented on the nice turnout from the season ticket holders and community in post game and thanked everyone for coming out. He thanked Nick/marketing, sports info and even the facilities people for getting the arena ready by the morning after two graduations.

Definitely a great crowd for no name team the Sunday before Christmas, not to mention our record.

I was shocked at the ā€œdecentā€ turnout we had for this game. Much better than I had expected, especially with the students being gone. I noticed we seemed to have more ā€œcasual fansā€ agt this particular game. I wonder if we gave out tickets in special promotions.

I know kids under 17 were free with paying adult. Not sure how widespread the advertising was for it. I did see it in Utter’s game day column, though. Don’t tell Mike P.

Dude. You are divine. Awesome find.

i do what i can to help a fellow niner.

Props to marketing and the AD for the turnout. Letting students have 2 free guest tickets is what scored getting my whole family to the game which was great. I also think they ran a deal for the professors as well - I know one of mine bought his family tickets for both games

I definitely took advantage of the 2 free guest tickets and plan to on the 30th aswell.

if we dont put coleman/dew on vasquez instead of dijuan, we lose, the end. he’s 6’6. that’s what killed us last year. our star shooter couldn’t shoot over a 6’6 guy or stop him from scoring.

Ooooh Maryland pre-game chalk talk. I want in.

We’ve been playing pretty well with Dijuan at the point and you wish you could keep everything the same. But Vasquez is a serious threat and must be taken seriously. Dew and Coleman are both identical (height/weight), and match up better against Vasquez. I have a feeling you’ll see a lot of Dew/Coleman at the point, but I’m not sure how Lutz will do it. Are we looking at a different lineup, such as Dew/Coleman starting over Dijuan? Will Dijuan start, see how it goes, and substitute from there if necessary? Will Dijuan start, everything stays the same, but we’ll given Dijuan a lot more help with the double team?? I’m curious how Lutz will approach it.

Edit: I poked around on the Gonzaga board. They owned Maryland 89-51. Gonzaga Coach Mark Few seemed to run tons of offensive sets throughout the game. On defense, Maryland was held to 1-9 shooting from 3-point land. It looks like Vasquez still had his usual solid game, but the emphasis was on his teammates. I wish I could watch the video to that game…

I may not be the sharpest fork in the deck…but can’t we start Dijuan at PG and simply give him a different defensive assignment on the defensive end??

Bowie has been starting at SG at 6’2" and in a 3 guard lineup Hayes starts at 6’4".

Thats what I was thinking too… If we dont start and play Harris we lose plan and simple!!

All this talk about Maryland makes me nervous. Haven’t we proven to ourselves that we can’t look past any opponent? Does anybody want to talk about Long Island? I for one am not even thinking about Maryland yet.

Good point.

The only thing I’m thinking about Maryland is if I’m gonna go to the game or not. At first I was, then I was not. Now, I may.

Life is full of tough decisions.

Very true indeed, I won’t be making the trip to Maryland either way. We gotta take care of business against Long Island and then worry about Maryland.
